Happy birthday to you. My best friend growing up's birthday is today as well. And he has the most 5's to speak of:
He was born 5/5/55!
And he's 50 today! (Damn, that sounds old) ;) |

Today is Ascension day or "Kristi Himmelfartsdag" as we call it in Norway. It's also a day off here in Norway - everything is closed.
So I shouldn't have an excuse for not getting this submitted in time! :)

Same here in Sweden - and we're taking tomorrow off, so it's a long weekend. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get this one or the invitational challenge in because we're leaving for a little trip to Denmark as soon as I get off this computer (boyfriend is getting impatient as I type this). It's going to be nice, I have to admit, to have a little time away from the computer. I can take more pictures!

| I was just goofing off in my room with the flood filter and then saw the speed challenge. I was like "Hmmm...maybe I can make this work." So I did. I don't expect to do well because it's a fairly wide picture so the vertical measurement is pretty small relative to it. On top of that, I didn't do all the usual editing to make it look nice. Whatever. I got into the 86 percentile on minimalism which is a PR to the extreme for me. My previous PR was a long-standing 71 percent. |

Children's Day here in Japan, third public holiday in three days (it's part of Golden Week). I took some photos of a beautiful 5-year old, but I don't think I'm at liberty to enter one of them in the Challenge.

in the Netherlands we celebrate that we got liberated by the Americans and Canadians (for the most part) in 1945 from the Germans today. For us the 5th. of May is always a day with many festivities and music.
I found it a little bit weird that they mention it's the 5th. year of the century, since it's the 6th. already...but that was just me making big things out of little :D

This is now a 48 hour challenge. It was originally intended as 48 hour because we didn't want two challenges going into voting on the same day. Enjoy the extension!

Year 2000 was the last year of the Twentieth Century, this is the fifth year of the Twenty-First; you start the count with year one (or 2001), as there is no year zero. |
