I just wanted to share a 14-shot panorama of San Francisco taken from Twin Peaks. The photo goes from the Golden Gate Bridge to the east side of the bay. I used Panotools with the Hugin frontend and Enblend. Let me know what you think.

Beware, the panorama is about 2 megabytes. This resized for web version is 640 X 10,190. The original tif image was 1 gigabyte, though!

Very cool! It barely looks real - more like a painting or something. Nice stitching.

FANTASTIC !!!!
A touch hazy, could have a bit more pop, but the stitching is great, can't see the seams (at least not without searching for them).

Nice job, indeed!

I actually have seen a panorama like this b/c I took a panorama just like it last time I was in SF. :) It wasn't as nice and crisp as yours though. Seams are pretty much invisible, too. It's really beautiful, thanks for sharing. I love SF.

OMG, Bryan! I can almost pick out the places I lived there! I have NEVER seen anything like this. When can I come over and see the original on your PC? LOL

LOL, you caught me! I just needed a catchy title to get ya to look.

Totally amazing shot, Bryan! Very clear and the stitching is excellent. Love the detail of downtown SF. Great work.

(Can't let that sit too long.)

A resounding HOLY CRAP! That is awesome!

imagine printing that out!

I actually caught 3 seems pretty fast at first glance. But thats probably because I've worked with a lot of panoramas and am used to it.

It looked very sharp and undistorted though. What focal length did you shoot at?

You really are doing it backwards aren't you. You're supposed to go from Los Angeles to San Francisco to out of state. :)

Wow

You caught that on the right side, huh? All the shots were taken handheld...the last ones had to be rotated when stitched together. It really screwed up the horizon, but I didn't want to crop it off.

I'm actually getting it printed 6" X 7' at 300 dpi. It should be here in a couple of days. The photos were shot with my 17-40 f4L at 40mm, I think.

Wow, I'm most impressed.
You said that was shot handheld in vertical mode??!!?

Respect!

No they were shot in horizontal (landscape) mode. I just turned 180 degrees while taking the photos in jpg mode. I tried using raw, but I kept having to hold the camera in one place waiting for the buffer to clear. Ooops, I just went and checked the source files and there were 15 shots that made up this panorama.
