Does anyone know if there is a way to manually straighten a photo in PSE? The help topics are worthless and the auto straighten doesn't work well.

Thanks!

I don't know ELEMENTS but try. .. Select all/Edit/rotate. If Elements has that.
Hope that is helpful.

I don't have Elements either, but this may work the same as in CS:
- Select the measure tool (looks like a ruler, is "buried" under the eyedropper tool)
- Draw a line with the measure tool in the cirection that vertical (or horizontal) should be
- Select Image>Rotate Canvas>Arbitrary and when the dialog box comes up don't change anything, just click OK.

Edit: this does supposedly work with Elements 2.0 & higher, I just can't verify it.

You can use the crop tool to rotate in ELements. Make your crop selection the entire image and bring the mouse off the edge of the picture. When the cursor turns into alittle arced arrow, you can click and drag and the image will rotate.

Boy, that doesn't sound very clear, but once you do it, it is really pretty easy.

I use PS Elements so here you go :)
There are two different routes:

Image>Rotate>Custom...
In this method you put a degree and a direction (either right or left) and the photo rotates X degrees in your desired direction

and...

Image>Rotate>Free Rotate Layer
I personally use this method all the time. It allows you to visually see what changes you are making to the image and is the easiest way to straighten horizons and such.

Hope this helps --- lemme know if you have any more questoins.

Lee

Edit: spelling

It is very easy to rotate in Elements. On the top tool bar go to Image - Rotate - Custom and then you can rotate by degrees to the right or left.

FYI Fritz,

Unless elements has been updated in the last two years, it does not have the measure tool that CS has. I agree with you that that is the greatest way to straighten but aparently that is one of the things that Adobe wants you to pay through the nose for.
