Hi,
Has anybody out there had notably good or notably bad experience buying equipment from jr.com?
When I still lived in NYC (through 1987), I recall J&R as a rapidly expanding music and electronics operation near City Hall.
Now I'm thinking of buying a camera from their web site and would appreciate your thoughts.

I bought from them lots of stuff, though not online, only in their store.
From my experience their store service was excellent and had absolutely no problems with the products I bought.
I bought computer parts, by the way, not camera parts but that shouldn't matter.

I go to their store across from City Hall. I think they're great.
They always seem to win awards for service excellence and compared to all the other computer stores in the city, I feel that they are the only one who have sales people with knowledge of their products. COMPUSA is for example is a joke in that regard.
I've never done the online/mail thing but they have a very strong reputation in general, so I'd say they are a safe bet.
The salesman I go to and call every so often for advice's name is Harold Ling (DSLR Dept.). He might make a for a decent contact point.

I have dealt with them 3-4 times, they are fine. Not the world's fastest shipper but they do what they say they will do. My recomendation would to place your order over the phone, not online. The online catalog will show items as "in stock" when they are not; the phone person will be able to tell you more up to date info on availability.

I buy all my electronics from them. Awsome store and nice people. I have been shopping there along time. I even remember going there with my dad when they are a nice little store and now the have the whole block.
