After finally getting through all of the entries I've given more high scores than I remember for past challenges. I think that the quality of the photographers' images has improved. I would like to think that this is in part because of practice and sifting through feedback from past challenges. Though I must admit that my entry this week is lame and doesn't even deserve the 5.3 that has gotten so far. Serves me right too for waiting until the last hour before starting. Anyway, good job on the photos this week everyone!

I am giving out mostly 6,7,8's yet I here a lot of people scoring low. It will be interesting to see the results. I know I am running about 4.8

I sometimes wonder how my mood affects my scoring. Regardless, I thought there were some excellent photos in this round. This is a talented group.

Well, I am sitting at my desk wondering if I will still have a job in a week, so my mood is not that great. I keep seeing these photos and thinking "that would look great up in the kitchen".

I've noticed the scores tend to fall during the US workday. I wonder if people are generally in a bad mood at work and that reflects in their scoring when voting from work.

Also, if my workplace is any measure of the norm, the monitors are calibrated more with Excel in mind then Photoshop. That's why I never vote at work.

I've been doing PC support for about 6 years now. I didn't know there was a separate calibration for Excel and Photo editing programs. ;)
Photo editing programs only accentuate the need for a properly calibrated monitor. No one is looking for true-to-life colors inside an Excel graph. |

I think I vote a bit higher during the workday. Its usually a few shots at a time, sporatically during the day. When I'm at home and have more time (and a little influence from my wife), I think I probably vote the medium ones lower and the better ones a little higher. It probably averages out to the same. She generally uses a little more strategy than I do., i.e. She rates shots relative to the scores I'm getting (for this one challenge since it's my first). I don't know if that's right or wrong. I don't agree with that theory and its my vote that counts anyway. (Sorry Honey!) hahahahaha

LoL, that was my attempt at a clever way to say "poor quality monitors hooked to worse graphics cards with no calabration at all" :)
