I was going to comment but Imagineer said everything. He's good! I wonder if we could all chip in and pay him to critique all our photos. :D

Imagineer, I read your comment on the Red Lines image and am a bit confused. Isn't the hyperfocal point the point that has 1/3 of the image in front of the focal point and 2/3 in back? (So you would focus 1/3 of the way into the image rather than 2/3) this link seems to agree with me.

I had a few different shots of this one, and tried a little of what you guys were saying, cropped the black etc. this one looks to be in better focus, but it seems my eyes are often wrong lol. Is this one at all better than the last?

Yes, the second one is lots better. The focus looks just right to me!
