Yes, it is a viable way to learn the basics of Photograhy. I have taken there course and would rate them good!

Man I used them to help me get started back in about 1970, If they are still around I would say that they are going to be here. I did learn a lot.

I have talked with a local guy here in where I live. He attend it and took courses, he said, that it's good for instruction use only, not to earn a degree in photograghy. Personally, I have looked over it alittle, it "seems" like a suitable means of learning for hobbist. However, in my own insterests I perfer to look elsewhere to learn and gain a degree. Hope you enjoy learning.

Yes, I am currently on unit no. 2 of the home study program. Actually they offer two types of courses. One is the traditional photography, and the other is the newer digital photography classes. The difference is the digital course does a lot of work with Photoshop, while the other is still in the "darkroom" so to speak. The other down side is that they are very slow in returning your assignments. At this rate it could take me until the end of the year to finish. Not so good. Other than those points, they do offer a comprehensive study course. You can PM me if you have further questions.

I emailed Lorrie, but think I should share this with anyone else in the program. There is a MSN Group devoted to NYIP students. It isn't run by the school, but run by students. It's a decent resource...

You're welcome. Forgot to add, you pay $35 monthly. They usually give you a few chances at 30% off the total if you pay in full.
