I just got this great ebay deal on a cutting edge system!

The monitor's a little warped, but the 1200 baud modem screams! AND it came with a free cell phone!
04/07/2005 04:11:52 AM · #62
Yup -- looks like about $10,000 worth of stuff. I have a 300 baud modem if that 1200 proves as unstable as most of them were.

Pentium 4 w/ HT 3.20 GHz
1GB Ram
Windows XP

DVD Burner

9 Media Card Reader

I can remember my first computer. 33MHz / Win 3.1 / 220mb HD / 4 mb ram / 3.5" drive / NO CD-Rom, I had to purchase that and put in myself and I think it was a 2X. / 9600 bps modem...... And it cost as much if not more than the computer I have now.

My first Computer:

That's right, a CDC Cyber 170 running PLATO, circa 1980... Everyone with their C64s and I was running a touchscreen terminal linked to the system that spawned most of the community features of today's internet:
- instant messaging
- threaded message boards (like this one!)
- email
- lotus notes (crap that it is, directly decended from PLATO Notes)
- multiplayer games
- the first ever 3d 1st-person shooter
- open-source development

Got a fully-functional Mac Plus (1MB) that I sometimes boot to play Putt-Putt. :)
How many 19 year old computers do you have lying around that still work?

If computers were cars, I'd be driving an AMC Gremlin.

AMD Duron 1.2 Ghz
two 256MB PC133 SDRAM modules
GForce4 MX (can't remember the model number.. some low ass one though)
MSI K7T Pro mobo
1x 80GB Seagate HD
52x CD-ROM
450 watt PSU

Just your basic mid-low level system

My first also. I had the 16k expansion and thermal printer. I think I still have some issues of Sinclair magazine. I still have my computer also, but it doen't work anymore. I have thought about building one from NOS kits online.

LOL
I meant X as in "whatever".. not as in OS X.

Oy.
