You lucky you...

my first:
Commodore C-64
CPU: 6510 (beefed-up 6502) running @ 1MHz
64K RAM, of which ~38911 bytes available for BASIC programs, slightly more for assembly-level applications
Graphics: 320x200/16 colors (but not more than 2 colors in any 8x8 box)
Cassette deck for everyday use
Disk: 1541 floppy drive (I think up to 170KB per one 5.25 floppy disk)
Monitor: Whatever TV I had at the time...

I drooled so much at 8086/8088 PC XTs at the time...

ps. If we could get those programmers to write code today, we would have amazing sw applications. They were able to put so much useful and well-executing stuff in 48K, it is unbelievable. Now you install apps from DVDs and... you know the quality.

ps. I think that the most important piece of hardware as far as DPC is concerned is a spyder or something like that, that helps you calibrate your monitor, so that your photoshop edits do not look like digital art.
Haven't seen much people listed that (it wasn't asked for I know)

I have the Lappy 486, top of the line. My data printer sits atop my monitor, which is a touchscreen monitor. As I type out words, you can click on them and occasionally funny things will happen.

I've noticed, however, that every time I hit <Enter> my screen clears and refreshes, allowing me to type more funny things.

All the computing power I need. And yes I do have the 16k RAM Pack for "massive add-on memory" : )

Edit: There's a photo on this page.

Aaah, a Sinclair owner. Back in the days, I remember endless discussions about who has a bigger and better one... ZX Spectrum or C-64... ZX-81 I've used a couple of times, did not care much for the sensor keyboard, though. Spectrum was better, but still had a rubbery feel to it. QL was OK, but then came Amiga.

btw, you can buy those today, they look good, don't they?
C=64

only an hour to go, hurry!

I’m using an eMac and it works great. If you already have a PC, you might take a look at the new Mini Mac and just get a KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switch to swap between your PC and mac.

I really should stay out of these computer threads:

Osiris (my where i sit and work)
Dell 9100 3.2 HT laptop w/ 1900x1200 screen
1 gig ram (needs more)
80gig HD
CD burner yadda yadda yadda
Windows XP home (for now will be getting win server 2k3 eventually if it will run PS)
oh and the most important, a CF reader

Then I use that to connect to my 'photostore/webserver machine' where I keep the pics (Horus) and a small personnal website.
P4 3.0 HT
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
1 gig ram
250 gig HD
DVD burner
yadda yadda yadda

Then theres the backup box / webserver 2 where I do web-dev stuff which is a P2 something with like 32 of ram :-) running 2000.

Then I also have some offsite storage...

I have a commidor (sp?) 64 in a box somewhere which was my first machine. Pacman rocks!
