I bought it 2/26/04, have taken less than 8000 pix with it. I have the kit lense, Canon 50 1.8 mark 2 and Sigma 70-300 APO Macro Super(with red ring), extra battery and I will include a SanDisk Extreme 2 Ultra 256 card.

Would you sell the items separately? I'd be interested in the 300D body only.

I'm really thinking of buying a camera like this till the end of the year!
How many pics does it take, till it dies? Roughly.......

I asked around on a different forum and got answers as low as 20,000 and as high as 80,000...lol.
All I can say is I have taken less than 6k with mine...don't really know what that would mean in terms of longevity, sorry. |

The 1Ds Mk 2 is rated at 200,000.
I would assume 50,000 is not an unrealistic expectation. At 6k a year, that is about 9 years.
Pixel Lady - gettig out of dSLR or going to the dark side (Nikon)?

Which would be okay, if it would come back as a 1Ds2 in the camera-afterlife.

Question. Does anyone know how much a shutter replacement costs after it goes. I have shot 2,000 pics in the last month alone. the 20,000 pics quote scares me a little. |

There has been a lot of discussion on this topic (how many click till death) and no real answer. I have 18,000 clicks on mine and there is no sigh of wear anywhere on my camera (or internal that I can see and I looked everywhere. I know one person on this site posted over 50,000 click with the rebel and still going strong.
Don’t buy a camera or get worried about the number of clicks. I think how the camera was cared for plays much more of a part in the cameras life then how many pictures were taken.

From my searching about on the web...a film and manual film camera shutter replacement is not too bad, $175 or so. I fend very little info on the digital cameras, but $300 to $600 seems to be the range. Could be not many get replaced, cause if you told me $600 ona 2 or 3 year old dSLR, i'd just go buy a new one wiht mroe MP and more features!
Shutter life on a 20D seems to rated at 75,000.
