Not sure where this should be posted but....

..I've noticed there are a few UK members on here.

Anyone fancy trying to get together for a field trip? (is that the right term for it?)I'm fairly new at this and would definately benefit from other peoples ideas and how they choose to shoot a given subject/location.

Just a thought and I have no idea of where, we would need to figure out where everyone is and try to find somewhere interesting that is fairly central.

Anyone intersted?

This would be a great idea. I also would benefit hugely from other people. I'm only 15yrs old though, would this be open to everyone?

I don't see age as being a restriction at all - of course it's open to everyone!!! - film only guys aswell!!!

Only problem might be transport depending on where you live (might have to drag parents along - yawn :-)). But, again depending on interest, who comes along and from where, we might be able to get you picked up on route.

Depending on when and where, I might consider joining you :o)

Definitely up for some of that.. I'm in the South-East (essex) but willing to travel 100 miles or so if it was going to be a whole day thing and enough people turned up.

Im up in Cheshire and would consider joining in depending on when and where it was.

Kavey is away on holiday at the moment but I suspect she and maybe her husband might be tempted to join in too.

Hey, if you chose to do it around Gatwick or Luton (which I doubt :-), I might join you if the Easyjet fare from Geneva is affordable.

I live in the US, but I will be in the UK for a month starting the last week of September. I was planning to go up to Scotland in early October, but I'll be staying near my dad in Cambridgeshire most of the rest of the time. I have a BritRail pass, so anywhere I can get via train would work for me. It might be too short a notice for what you are planning, but I'm interested if it works out.

I'm baaaaaaaack... thanks FloYdie!

I'd be interested in a field trip but it would depend on when and where?

Like John (Floyd) and his dear lady wife, Pete and I tend to book our weekends up around 3 months in advance. We're not super popular or anything - it's just we're all 4 part of a large crowd of friends who met at uni and are now living all over the UK. Which means we spend a lot of our weekends visiting each other in various commutations...

Anyway.

If we choose an outdoor location we need to take weather into account - we're moving into crappy weather time...

But in principle I'd really be up for this.

Can I bring my regular camera too?

:)

Regardless of if/ when we do a field trip, email me if you want to meet for dinner or drinks when in London.
I'm a member of some other forums and over the years have met around 40 plus people mostly when they visit London but also when I go to their hometown.
Tis fun to meet those with shared interests.

OK - seems we have a limited interest. Everyone says "depending on where & when". So how about we start with:

Where we are - I'm in Watford, just north of London.
When we CAN'T make, I'm free pretty much forever.
Any suggestions for where (general area) & what - location. Might be an idea to have an indoor back-up due to weather - I have no idea's.

Area works for me, I can get there easily.

er - wasn't actually thinking of meeting in Watford, lol. The idea was find out where everyone is and try to find somewhere interesting at a mid point between everyone.

oh ok:)

Well admittedly, though I do most shopping in Harlequin it's not inspiring photographically.

Isn't there some interesting stately home thing near us?

Or maybe we could go to Alton Towers? Or Chessington. Or Legoland. Or London Zoo. Or such.

I live between London and Brighton, in Sussex. The south of England has to be more attractive to shoot than northwards, plus we have the sun in the sky down here, not just smog.

To be honest I am not too fussed about "where" as long as it's not too long a haul.

I am more limited on the "when" front.

Any thoughts?

I live in Sussex (just beyond half way between Brighton and London), but am usually too busy too submit, let alone meet up, so I'll have to check my diary.

If it does go ahead, perhaps the exact venue could be decided when the weeks subject is known, so we dont find ourselves slogging up a mountain in search of the perfect 'City Life' shot.

Where: Between trying to plan around flooded rail lines and bus strikes, I haven't finalized my travel plans yet. (And here I thought taking public transportation would be so much better than driving!) At this point, it looks like I'm in Scotland at the beginning (through the first week of October). That's probably farther than anyone wants to travel, and I'm starting to fill it up with activities anyway. After that I'm in Cambridgeshire, whenever I'm not anywhere else. (I'll be to going to Bath, but the dates aren't fixed, and I'll be making day trips as the mood strikes me.)

When: If we assume Scotland is out, then sometime in the second or third week of October. Weekday or weekend doesn't matter to me.

What: No idea. I've only been to England once before, so I'm open to pretty much anything I can reach by rail. The idea of deciding at the last minute might be a good one - except I don't know how easy it will be for me to access email.

BTW, I realize this is much more constricting timewise than anyone else. I'd like to do it if it works out. If everyone ends up meeting at some time outside of when I'm there - no hard feelings.
