Wow, my score went from 6.7 to 6.1 in a matter of hours, it is slowly on the rise again. Did this happen to anyone else?

Yep. Dropped from 7.3 to 6.4 in about 25 votes. But I think that's usual.

Such statistical anomolies dissappear when the sample size increases. It's the centering of the bell curve that worries me :)

Might as well add to the D70 group, mine dropped off the map almost a full point

lol, don't you guys know that owning a Nikon trigers the 'drop score by 0.5' program?

yeah, that's why i switched to Canon.. but i went from 6.2 to 6.07... :(

LOL...gotta luv it!

Unfortunately, I think the theory has merit....happens to me every time.

6.3 to 5.8 is not unusual

Usually I end close to what the first 50 votes tell me...today i am expereinceing more of a drop than usual though...at 10 AM i was at 5.29...and now at 4.93. That is up from 4.91...

I still expect a rally at the end and if trends hold true, finish in the 5.25 to 5.35 area. Not great, but better than my last few tries, and rather good for what i thought was a bit daring for an entry.

3 favourable comments!

The early voting can get wild- my Passing Time entry went from 7+ to 4.000 in early voting before finishing at 6.427. That kind of swing will definitely raise an eyebrow. I've found that my scores generally start at a peak, bottom out about 18-24 hours after the voting starts, then moderate thoughout the week. Almost every entry seems to follow the same pattern.

Because I live in the UK, I usually find my score stays constant by the time I wake up and check my score. This challenge however, it's dived from 7.2 to 6.45 which is very unusual.

don't worry too much, i've seen dives from 7's to 4's in hours.

Well...if you start low, like I did, there isn't as much room to drop. I guess thats my new strategy....unfortunately.

I've never seen one by the time I get out of bed in the UK. I think you're thinking of score drops from soon after midnight US time.

Mine started out kinda low, then sank.
03/14/2005 09:17:10 PM · #17
yuck.... 6.8 last time (at 20 votes) I checked, 6.1 now....(at 80).

That hurts!

I thought I was starting to get used to the pattern - start high, drop, the level and rise slowly, but the last few entries haven't followed it at all. I think I've reached the conclusion that there is no pattern !
