This was a wonderful challenge, with an extremely high average score, it seems to me; look how far down you have to go to get under 6. But the following image, in 132nd place, is criminally underrated IMO. Seldom have I seen something so pure and sweet and well-presented score so badly. This picture is absolutely a work of art. I'd hang it on my kitchen wall.

I loved this shot, personally (and commented as much).
I think people were tired of eggs. and the lack of children and/or pets :)

I'm sorry Robert, but you can only eat so many eggs before you start to get sick. Perhaps on its own the image could be considered, but in the context of this challenge I skipped over most of the little white unborn chicken fetuses.

That's too bad; virtually alone among the egg shots this one transcends its subject and becomes art. It's about curves and light, not "egg".

I agree with Bear about the shapes but this wasn't the best egg shot in the challenge. (my opinion) I really tired quickly of all the flowers!

Canon users came 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Looks like they naturally do excel at overexposing pics :P

Well done to the three of yas!

I'm with you, Rob - I gave it 8

A seriously good image very beautiful and artistic. But further evidence that being artisitic does not mean a good score.

I think that a lot of the really beautiful pictures were extremely under scored and some of the not so great shot were voted higher than I imagined they would. I think a lot of that is because a lot of the users do not have much experience in photography. And I do think the pic above is just beautiful!

It was a highscoring challenge, and their were some amazing shots. But I definatly tend to deduct points when I see more of the same topics in challenges, in this case the egg.

I only gave it a 7, I thought it was very good but not great.

I gave the winner a 10.

I gave a 10 also for this one...

Quite a few people commented they could make out what my image was! I hope this helps:

Well I finished in the bottom 10, and I am actually able to laugh about it...an embarrassed laugh, but a laugh nonetheless. I realized it was a crappy picture as soon as I saw it next to the rest of them. Hey, one person gave it a ten...but I got about a million ones...that bad huh? OK, I hear ya. It seems I am not yet a photographer, lol. I have been getting steadily worse actually. I was in the 75th percentile in my first contest, 35th in my second, and in the 1 percentile in light on white. Ouch. My new mantra..."don't enter a contest unless you have something great no matter how much time you spend trying to figure out an entry". sigh. You may all proceed to my profile and shake your head in dispair at the terrible picture...but while you're at it, check out this photo I took on my way home from visiting in-laws this weekend. I so wish I had not had the camera set to b and w, as that is the gulf of mexico in the background and that blue would have been nice. But alas this was shot from a moving vehicle (husband in a hurry, no stopping for pictures) and had to be shot on the settings that the camera happened to be on when we went past.

I'm happy with my entry, not so much with the score, but all the cool comments. The score's not bad either, Thanks everyone. I took this with my tiny pocket camera, so the lesson here is to carry a pocket camera whenever you get the chance.

I'm # 263 of 427... My second highest placing, which isn't all that much to brag about. LOL

My only wish is, like everyone, that I had received more comments.

Geez! I just noticed that it got 5 ones and 20 twos... I don't think it deserved that....

Don't feel bad about that, everyone gets those, even the winner got 2 ones & 1 two. Just means a few people out there are on a different wavelength from the majority.

I'm just as amazed when in every challenge the last place usually scores at least 1 ten:)

Still trying to figure out why mine got so many ones and twos. I don't guess 11 is many though. I just thought it would do better than it did.

You got an overall vote average of 5.2, that is good.

I missed out voting on this challenge as I only came back off holiday late monday. I was going to vote but when I looked at how many entries there where and it was quite late last night I knew I would not finish so I thought it unfair to start and then stop without voting on all the images.
I did view the thumbnails and thought that the quality of the entries looked high.
Yes there where a lot of egg shots and light bulb shots and flower shots but I believe that you should vote on each image as unique.

The egg shot in question in this thread I consider to be a very good photograph and would possibly have voted it an 7/8.

The flower shot that Rex07734 entered probably suffered because of the border, I know that some people vote down shots because they dislike certain types of borders, I do not.

i'm fairly happy with my 271st place considering i just set up the shot to see if i could actually get a completely white backdrop with an old shirt and some A4 paper.. beats my last effort anyway lol

Some great ecamples in there and well done to the winnders!

I think I might be the only one on this challenge to have a 0.00 average from commenters, which is very disapointing. I was hoping on getting some feedback so I can improve.

Avg (all users): 4.860
Avg (commenters): 0.000
Avg (camera): 4.843
Avg (no camera): 6.250

Since y'all couldn't get enough light bulbs during the challenge, here are a few more... ;o)

LOL I knew it was probably not the most unique idea, but I didn't expect them to be slammed like the were. Oh well, it was an opportunity for me to work on my weakest areas, studio shots and lighting.

I also had a couple of shots of an angel figurine that I practiced with before the proverbial lightbult came on and I went with the lightbult prop. I don't think any of these would have made a difference in my score, though. Definitely an interesting and useful challenge.

My entry is the last shot...

I like the Angel shots better than the light bulbs.
