I know Ansel Adams did a bit of color photography towards the end of his career... but would submitting a color photo (in his style) be a bad idea? I can just see a bunch of 1's saying "u stupid idiot ansel adams was b&w only!!! go kill urself!" or something.

hehe.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

Unfortunately he's most well known for his black and white landscape. If most people use Google to find examples voting will also lean to higher scores for the b/w landscapes.

well it all really depends on the score you see yourself getting... usually the score is higher when you dont give trollers an obvious reason to vote you down :-)

I think the challenge description insinuates b/w:

"Take a photograph in the style of this famous black & white photograph."

Even though it does not say you have to do b/w you would likely be hammered.

The challenge description reads: Take a photograph in the style of this famous black & white photographer.

Even though he did some remarkable work with color near the end of his career, I think it would be facetious to think that you would score over a 5 with a color picture in this challenge. You would probably get some horrendous comments as well.

Anyone who enters a color photo in this challenge is even crazier than that guy who shot a raindrop on a thorn and entered it as a self-portrait :-)

That was madness, rather like that lunatic that let his kids get into a fight just so he could enter something into the separation challenge :)

That particular lunatic was a "she", and the end result was a ribbon, which justifies everything right? Right?

I think their use of the term black and white rather than landscape to describe Ansel Adams let you know their thoughts in creating the challenge.

But then, who cares? A great picture is a great picture. As long as its the right size and white is white. ;)

Gonna be interesting to see how Zoomdak fares on this one, what with Cannon Beach at his doorstep. Place your bets here; can the boy win when he's forced to throw his colors out the window? Or, for that matter, can he win this challenge with a COLOR picture of his beach, since it's bound to be a "great landscape"?

jejeje™
