hello, its me again (sorry to keep bugging you), but i think i found a good match and was wondering if it was any good, since i don't have a lot of experience with digital cameras and am just learning about it. anyway, i found a Canon PowerShot A10, shown [here]//www.mpsuperstore.com/digital/indexMy.htm?discr5556.htm[Here]link text[/Here][/url], and remember, this has to last me a while. thanks.

That was my second choice digicam when I was researching my first purchase. I got an Epson 850Z instead, as it seemed a bit more flexible, but the Canon is a fine little cam.

It seems like a nice little camera and has lots of good features. The only thing that bugs me is that its only 1.3 megapixels and you won't be able to print very nice pictures with that. But I guess if its just for fun that its a pretty coo camera. I wish my camera had Stitch Assist on it hehe.

Nice to hear your okay Irae, heard about earthquake in Tapei but don't know how close Chia-Yi is. Don't suppose you are related to Erik Chia-Yi Lee?

Hi Vin,
That was one *weird* earthquake. I was here for the big ones in '99: a 7+ about 50km away and a 6.4 just down the road. In fact, our daughter was born three weeks early the morning after the second quake. This one was on the east coast, sort of directly across the island from us (maybe 100km). It was only a 4 or so here, but it went on and on - like being on a ship. We've moved lower to the ground since '99, though, and don't even have to buy new dishes. Thanks!
Oh, and no relation. Who's that guy?

I'm glad to hear you are okay after the earthquake. This truly is becoming and international site isn't it?

Looked for Chia-Yi on the web and this guy's site came up, when I saw Erik and Chia-Yi though it might be a possibility out of about 20 million people on you island!

so did u see the samples chrommonkey and what camera did you get? i happen to think the color rendition on the a-10 is outstanding for it's pricepoint. doesnt suffer from the video screencap look some cheaper cameras have ..

let us know!

i saw the samples on the website, it seems to have very clear pictures for its price, but how many pictures can fit on a 8mb card? i've been looking around the stores in my area to see if i could find it anywhere, no luck yet, just to consider how big it is, and could it fit in my pocket.

I don't know if you checked it out but, check out the prices at this place before you buy. //www03.bhphotovideo.com . it take up a full square block in Manhattan. It's like a candy store for photographers!

chrom

i got my wife's from photoalley.com for 199.00. it came pronto, no muss no fuss. b and h as mcorwin mentioned is always often a good source for great deals. the 8mb card can hold 27 1280x960 images at normal compression and approx 10 in 'superfine' mode. for $43.00 from newegg.com you can get a 128MB CF card that will hold about 500 images! (i have their 256 MB card and it works great). finally, you can see and hold an a10 at circuit city for sure and possibly at staples, but its not a large camera.
hope that helps

thanks, i will have to go check it out and see if they have it at circuit city, for some reason though its not on their website. 27 images on a 8mb card? that doesn't sound too bad, i'm just worried about going out, and having to upload every 10 minutes, if i'm on vacation or something.

You'll probably wind up getting an extra CF card at some point, if you do a lot of shooting. The prices on them drop all the time, so wait a while if it's not driving you crazy. :)

I shoot with the Canon EOS D30 and it is very nice having the IBM 1GB MicroDrive. It is quite nice not have to worry about uploading every 10 minutes ;)

It is not that expensive. I know for a fact that IBM is releasing a 6GB MicroDrive hard drive. It will probably be expensive at first but the price should come down in a year or two.
