Can you post the link to it? I just want to see what it looks like.

For example, photobucket is free but it looks like crap.

I just signed up for an account here. Seems that if you are lucky enough to get one of the 200 free memberships it will never expire.

I just added 2 albums with 2 pictures in each to see what it looks like. I think it is okay, nicer than the flikr account I have now.

Here is the link if you want to see what it looks like.

I just signed up, looks ok. I got a free account. I just created an album with 11 images in to see what it looks like.

If you'd like to see click the link www.focusu.com/Blackdog

Interesting point, it seems like our friend tripkebab who started this post and has just become a registered user today, has a very very similar username as the site administrator of Focusu.com.

He goes by the name of John and username of tripkabab.

How about it? Are you one and the same? If so why try to hide the fact?

Heh, *blush*, busted =) Yes i am the one and the same, reason being i found in the past that if i posted it as my site i'd get alot of negative rude comments / bashing etc =( Was just trying a new tactic to get some honest views. Seems like ur all good blokes here tho =).

Guess u all deserve a little history now =)

About four years ago now i stuck together a website called lazyarse.. //www.lazyarse.net or drunken photography and i used that site to post all the digital photos i took with my back then Canon powershot (somethingorather) so i could remember all my drunken nights out with my m8's!
Anyway i eventually ran out of space and stopped addin pics, a year later i was lucky enough to get a dedicated server and came up with the idea of FocusU. So after almost a year of developing the site, redesigning it, deveoping again and redesigning another 2 times i now have a pretty solid site going.

Anyway, the 200 free accounts have already been used up!! Infact 230 of em, so as a thanks im gonna give away another 300 =) =)

I'll cruise over and check it out ... looks like a pretty nice, clean layout.

Are you going to allow linking to the photos themselves, or just to the photo's album page?

hehe...I thought you were being kind of sneaky! I tried to sign up earlier but it hasn't sent me a confirmation email...i'll try again.

It looks pretty good...

Okay, it won't let me sign in until I've confirmed...yet nothing was sent to my hotmail account...

this is a pretty cool site, and it's rockin for being free. But cut all that jive, if you would stick to your base 200 free accounts and then charge for the rest it would be much more of a money maker.

Hmmm, if your not recieving a comformation email mail me at support@focusu.com and ill activate your account for you.

Glad you like the layout! Ill be adding a new default theme soon which will make the gallery look cleaner (similar layout to the forums)

GeneralE, yep linking to photos is allowed.

GLjoe,

I know it would be but unfortunatly i havent got the money for advertising, im running google adwords but thats not enough. I figure the more accounts i give away the more publicity i get, ofcourse there's a cut off point where it will stop being benificial. I wan't to get a really good community going before i start charging and 200 isnt enough.

+ im still redesigning and improving on areas all the time, im very picky and wana get it all perfect before i start charging =)

Once the gallery is redesigned to follow theme with the rest of the site im gonna start charging, still feels a bit tacky to me =)

What do you all think of the gallery interface?

I haven't gotten a confirmation either -- I even checked the SPAM folder. I think I'll wait a while to see if it turns up before I send a note to the other address ... I have to go to work anyway.

Linking is great, although I mainly use it for posting in the forums here : )

i found a bug in the settings.php file.

if you change anything, but not the password, and then click the change button it serves an error saying the password did not match.

specifically - trying to change from the dark to light theme. if you do change passwords the setting changes are applied fine.

Just a quick message to wish you luck with the new site. I've run similar sites in the past myself and it's hard work, especially if you become successful - and I hope you are.

Just don't forget rule 1.

Rule 1 - you deserve to make some money out of all your hard work.

if so, hats off

Why aren't these threads treated as spam? If this is allowed, I have a web design services company I'd like help people become aware of. Now, let me think what forum my self-promoting thread belongs in...
