Okay...can anyone tell me why these following photo's on DPC are a little blurred. I have them posted on another site using the same exact files and the are very sharp and clear.

DPC versions

The other site

Did u USM the pictures before you posted them to DPC?

Yes...they are the exact same files.

Did you USM the picture before or after you resized it?

The photographyblog site might run their own sharpening algorithm on the photos before showing them (like smugmug does).

I did it after.

Wow. If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it. That picture is murdered on DPC compaired to the other site. What gives.

I've noticed that my photos NEVER look as good on dpc as they do when I look at them before I upload.

Lol...murdered isn't the word lol. I don't understand it.

i've noticed that alot of sites that allow you to upload photos actually resave them for file size (obviously resulting in slightly altered images).

i would assume that dpc does not do this, but perhaps your other site runs them through a slight "optimization" filter which sharpens them or something....who knows?

in short, once it leaves your computer, its possible that it goes through all sorts of recompression. :) or is that a :(

question: whats the streaking inthe lower right corner on the dpc shot? (image #1) looks like headlights in a time lapse...but there is no such streaking in the other sites image...

and whats with the aspect ratio? did you crop?

you know what...I just noticed the steaking headlights in photo number 1. They are a little different. I did bracket those shots, wonder if somehow I uploaded the wrong one with photo number 1.

The aspect ratio was 1.5. I did not crop.

Right click the pics and check properties - the DPC pic is 47k the blog pic is 192k.

then you changed something - the thumbnail is now 166k in DPC...

I must be missing something because the photo look to be different sizes.

In the testing that I have done DPC does not change the photo at all.

I think I might have resized a little different. The other size must be 600 on the longest side and on here its 640. Maybe thats where files may have been mixed up.

Okay...im thinking that when I resized I may have used a different compression ratio for the jpeg.

Also, if you upload too big of a file resolution-wise or filesize-wise DPC will resize it for you I think and it will look way crappier, so make sure you use DPC right to its limits but not over it :)
