Wow! Your childhood sounds idylic! You got Christmas presents??? Cool! Your Dad spent time with you? Awesome! You even had a back yard? How fun! Ballet and piano lessons? Mmmmmmm sounds like a dream I once had. You should find this challenge quite easy.
I'm not really gonna describe my childhood, or else my submission may not be anomynous. ;-)

maybe we were separated at birth? minus the ballet, piano and locust plagues in the australian outback, this all sounds like me! esp. the horse obsession (complete with imitating and list of horse names and breeds that I "owned".) Yeah, and why *is* it *I* didn't get a model to build? Hmmmm. (now I sound like a spoiled brat - so I'll stop)

LOL....nah....you're still a spring chicken m'dear...lol But the general theme of your outtakes do represent childhood...doesn't have to be YOUR childhood.

| I mentioned the challenge to my best friend who happens to be a new mom. Without a second thought, she suggested a picture of diapers. Lots and lots of diapers ;oP I guess it means different things to different people. |

Sounds like me, except mine was rural Rhodesia [Zimbabwe now]and no ballet and piano lessons! School on the air, Maths was if you take the black horses legs and add them to the grey's How many do you have. An eight legged horse ;-) I know I am going to be asked what is the connection with childhood!

Wow, did any of us have a "normal" childhood? My childhood was different too resulting in my becoming quite a loner in life. I somehow think that it will make ideas easier for me in this challenge. Many of the simple pleasures known only to childhood stand out for me mainly because I didn't get to experience them as often as many other children.
I think this will be a great challenge. It doesn't necessarily mean we will have all these sweet and happy memories conveyed in our photos. I think we will have many bittersweet portrayals of childhood. |

for me childhood is in large part about travel and moving.
i was born in egypt to parents with wanderlust, and lived at about 15 addresses by the time I was 10, in Egypt, France, the U.S., and Canada.
Nonetheless, world travel isn't what most people think of when they think of childdhood, so I'll probably do something a bit more conventional :P.
After all, I personally see the challenges as capturing the 'generic essence' of the idea presented, not getting too specific if it falls outside of the 'ideal.' Even though I might enjoy something more personal and offbeat, I prefer to not get a million 'doesnt meet the challenge comments.' |
