Thats a hard challenge though. Half the world is in summer, so ice isn't exactly to be found anywhere except in a freezer.

Hehehehe.... think it was about 35 degrees here today (thats celcius not farenheit for you north american folk :P). I have precisely two photos on my hardrive that would meet this challenge suggestion. and both were taken in february 2004 so unless you can hack my exif data for me I vote no :).

First the masters challenges and then this ??..... jeez I'm being exluded from everything these days aren't I!

(by the way - I have just so as not to dig up an age old argument the masters challenge comment was merely a joke, not a complaint - I thought those challenges were a great idea).

Just a few from last winter. Haven't had much time to shoot lately.

Frost is ice, on my windows in these photos. The secret here is the sunrise behind the window. In northern Vermont we can have frost on windows six months of the year. But today it is above freezing.

This is one of my all time favorites of ice, intentionally shot it at 2800 kelvin in broad daylight to get the blue colour.

Shot at the same location as Larus's photo

Great shot, could be composed better but I like it. Gullfoss is an awesome place to visit during the winter months, don´t you agree?

When everything is frozen like this you don't stop long to compose :)
Seriously, this is a beautiful spot, no matter what season.

Damn, poet... the frost pictures are otherworldly. Added 2 to my favorites.

Why thank you Robert, arngrimur, eruelas, and cloud. It consistently amazes me how the truly worldly, these crystals of frost on my windows, can appear so otherworldly. I love waking to see what each winter night grows in ice. I'll be taking more!

Ice monoliths on the southeastern shores of Lake Michigan. The whole landscape had been transformed with frozen waves and giant ice chunks piled up in debris heaps by the force of the freeze thaw cycle. This was taken at sunrise, facing west towards Chicago. Tripod mounted, with circular polarizer filter. The colors of the sky were there when I was taking the shot, but weren't readily apparent in the original digicam image. I ran Curves in Photoshop and out popped the colors!
