Did anyone else see this photo before is was pulled? (I'm guessing it was pulled....it's not showing up anymore.) ACK! ACK ACK ACK! And for some reason, it randomly showed up as the FIRST picture for me to vote on.

REALLY BAD NUDE PHOTOS ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT NECESSARY!!!

I think all of the rest of my pencil votes will be tainted. Oh, if only I could have my old life back....the before time, before I saw that picture, was so lovely.

You'll have to describe it for those of us who missed it. ;-)

Imagine the scariest homo-erotic, child porn thing..multiply by 10, divide by 3.

I actually would like to send the photo to Senator Joe Lieberman as a sign of what happens if you play too many video games :-)

I need to quit my job so that I can spend more time here.
Damn, just missed it...

I totally agree with you Rob! It took about a half hour to get that picture out of my mind. Now, reading your post, it brought back the horrible image. I was hoping that it would get disqualified!!!!! That was just tasteless ick!

I have no problem with tasteful, well shot nudes... But this was niether of those... Although it WAS on topic... Definitely a pencil :)

(Sorry, but someone had to say it :) )

This brings up an interesting question.
Are photos screened before voting?
08/19/2002 01:55:19 AM · #12
I didn't see it. And now after reading all these posts I'm so darn curious. Particularly when people say that it was disgusting, you just want to see it and typically afterwards you say that you wish you didn't.

Darn i must've missed it...but didn't miss the beastiality horse pencil.....lol. Tom

No, except that the site will automatically reject any submission of a photo that does not meet the dimension or file-size requirements. All disqualifications are done in response to requests by voters.

How and when are the site rules on pornography implemented?
08/19/2002 02:57:44 AM · #16
Hehe, I get to see it because I have the secret moderators' menu. It's just a hairy naked man, no big deal. He's in a very Renaissancesque pose, with a strange look on his face.

Have none of you ever seen a naked man before? I'm still waiting for the day some troll submits the picture from that horrible site ending in .cx 30 seconds before the challenge starts so it can't be removed before a bunch of people see it. I'm very surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Was that all? So, where did the pencil come in? Maybe it got DQed because it didn't have a pencil?
Hey, for once everybody is meeting the challenge. lol
I think there are a lot of fun pictures in this challenge. Had anticipated it to be very boring to look at so many pictures of pencils but it's quite entertaining actually.

He had two packs of pencils, actually. It really was just a straight nude. It's interesting to see the way people interpret these things - statue of david = muscular, hairless, nicely posed, marble, GOOD; this photo = a bit rotund, hairy, badly lit, too much scrotum, BAD. I mean, I understand why people don't want to look at it, don't get me wrong. I'm sure one of Mapplethorpes other (non-floral) photos would get the same reaction. That man could make even his female nudes look homoerotic.

It's funny though. Going back to the idea that flowers are the sexual organs of plants, this site can get really pornographic sometimes :P. I wonder what DPC for plants would be like - everyone would be sick to death of all the photos of seeds, shoots and flower buds. Petals would be allowed, but only if tastefully done. Stamens are completely out. And pollen!? EWWW!!!!

Yep, flowers are very sexy. I saw this beautiful picture of a calla lilly this afternoon and it was highly erotic.
In a flower challenge, you certainly could not do a picture of a cactus because that would be considered SM.

He was laying on his side on a bed, with two boxes of pencils laying at his chest. True, the shot wasn't tasteless....true, I think he had a lot of guts (or stupidity), to show his stuff to the DPC audience....but honestly, I believe it was purely done for shock value. And probably to see how fast he could get dq'd. There was really nothing artistically appealing about it.

Oops, it's actually a pack of pencils and a sketchbook :). I didn't look closely at it before.

howdy all
call me crazy but i would've liked to see the picture
not looking for anyone to spare me from having to use my own judgement
freedom's not too much of a bother to have to put up with
'specially when we can vote low on a shot and catapult it back into obscurity within a week
then again i'm just an eccentric weirdo,
maybe i should take the hint and dissappear too,
with my pencil, pad, and scrotum
off to monster island with godzilla and mothra
a body can take some sweet pictures in those parts i understand
have a lovely day

The only thing I find more offensive then badly taken pictures of fat hairy men is censorship. A picture of a guy in the nude is pulled but would a picture of a gun cause any concern? What was so disturbing about it? Was it because he was large? Or hairy? Or just because his penis and scrotum were on view? SAD SAD SAD.
08/19/2002 02:02:43 PM · #25
Lisae..I am a very uninhibited person.

Inhibitions aside.

I could care less if they leave every photo up here. Take every something rotten.com...child porn....scrotum shot....whatever.... Leave it here.

I admire your viewpoint about giving photos their opportunity to shine but please don't blow this photo into a Maplethorpe or a David. And, my acceptance of ANYTHING doesn't mean I admire it :-)

Also, young folks come to this site and without a disclaimer about nudity some lines eventually have to be drawn for site protection.

I imagine Drew and Langdon have a particular line in their mind and I am pretty sure this one crossed it.
