Well, tomorrow is my six month anniversary here at DPC. I do not have any ribbons, but I have learned alot.

I would like to celebrate by putting up a couple of my worst images. I figurd, heck, we are always seeing the "Best of...". Well, here are a couple of my worst challenge images of 2004.

This is my son from the "Chocolate" challenge. Cute kid, right? I found out that cute kids don't win challenges, well, mostly do not win challenges. I also found out about the small detail of meeing the challenge with my image. This received a resounding 3.911 during my second challenge for a 7% finish.

This is from the "October Free Study". This recieved a 4.037 for a 3% finish. What happened? I had a whole month to think about this and screw it up. I thought I was being artsy, creative, and all kinds of other nice adjectives, but I was actually just being silly. I wanted to use alot of negative space and do something different to really draw attention to my shot. Anyhow, after 14 challenges, you think I would have known better. I still like this photo, just nobody else did. Actually, I can't say that. It did get two "10's". Who ever you are, there is a print available of this photo:)

Ok, your turn, lets see some of the photos that went "clank" for you this year....

only a select few have had the honor of placing worse than i did (1%) in this challenge:

Place: 108 of 109
Score: 4.061

it was for the sacred places challenge. not quite the standard interpretation, i suppose. read my description if you don't see where i tried to make the connection.

It’s a matter of interpretation some times we enter things that we see but the image does not show that well enough for us e.g.

I entered this in the hero’s challenge but what I was trying to show was a boy who saw a hero and loved to role play that hero. I missed the mark and should have realized now one could have interoperated that way and got what I deserved a big 2% nearly a brown ribbon.

i really like this! this is brilliantly simple, and very well taken. I think the focus on this is excellent, i love the very precise depth of field. the colours are bright and effective. composition is a bit uninspired, but that aside i think this is top stuff - i'd be well pleased if this was my "worst" shot of the year! I would have given this an 8, no problem!

My only 3.x, and a proud one to be sure.

I can't believe one person actually thought that the girl was hitting the baby.. (although I can kind of see it, but the paper is bending where it's connected with the dresser). Just a fun photo, when I still had fun taking photos. I don't have fun taking photos anymore.

For the Nude II challenge

Place: 83 out of 88
Avg (all users): 4.111
I really like this one although nobody else does. I guess those who submitted real flesh were a bit insulted by the plastic.
Result: It got hammered in the nude.

For the Wildlife challenge

Place: 130 out of 160
Avg (all users): 4.902
This was a love / hate for voters of the Wildlife challenge. It got 11 ones, 16 twos, 22 threes and on the other end 6 nines and 7 tens.
Result: A crash landing.

For the Poverty challenge

Place: 77 out of 171
Avg (all users): 5.063
I think this one should have stayed at home. I think this one is the worst photograph I have submitted at DPC.
Result: It didn't fill the carts with votes.

Jacko, you must have just beat me by a little bit....

Artyste... I also added your music challenge entry as a favorite, heck, I was the only one to comment on it!

This was my worst ever, but strangely enough it got 30 comments...not all bad ones and scored a staggering 3.15...but it was really done as a joke, I think, for Indecision challenge.

I've come close, but I've never been able to duplicate this mastery or light and shadow since. LOL
