What's the first image you can remember seeing on this site?
This is mine.
I read the comments from the picture taker (rooster), and I was amazed that the picture wasn't "natural" and she had actually "set up" the shot.
I was amazed because I thought it was a shot from a 1950's newsreel and then I was amazed that somebody would want to "set up" a shot to enter into a competition.
Of course I now know better and realize that it's all part of the game.
It's a great shot.
I was wondering if anyone else can remember their first time?

I was searching the web for images taken with the Canon PowerShot G2 when I came across this image by Gordon. I have been addicted ever since.

This was the winner of the Love challenge, for Valentine's 2002. That was the first place image the first time I loaded DPC.

Ok, something a little more easy maybe.
What was the first image you marked as a favourite?
This was mine:

I have no clue but I do remember the first two I commented and voted on. And they are a part of the reason I became a member of this site. Still to day they are among my favorite photographs and I still have them as my favorites and would love to have a print of them. One is available at DCPrints [Kintla Lake] and unfortunately [Dreams vs. Career] is not available for print that I can tell.

Since I'm pretty new to the site, I know exactly the first image(s) I saw and was amazed that people could take such beautiful photographs. Anyways, here's my first two photos DPC images I saw:

First two favourites - and .
I was initially somewhat discouraged by this site - I think I happened upon it on a week with a couple of ridiculously high quality challenges, and while I knew I was just starting out in this whole photography thing, I thought I was reasonable at it. One glance at this site showed me I had a long way to go. I still have a long way to go... but I've improved a hell of a lot, and dpc definately hasn't hurt in that respect. |

This was on the front page as the winner when I first joined the site, and I still think it's great. It's not all that different from the photo currently on the front page now :)

WEIRD!
Mine is the same one as Konador!
Not long after that I signed up as a member and the first challenge I commented/ voted on was the Corporate World. It took me a lot longer to enter anything!

By a process of deduction i think this must be the first image I saw - it would have been the blue ribbon the week I first found this place.

Definitely this one:
The Pollenator
I found this image while looking up info and samples about the Dimage 7i. Thought it was great macro quality and bought one. Now I carry a digicam everywhere.

I remember it clearly:
It made me want to become a member here so I could get good enough to take shots like that.
