Drew and I (mostly Drew), as you probably know, have been working on getting portfolios set up and functioning for members to have an all-encompassing portfolio to share and/or have some personal storage space at their disposal. The space limit is currently at 10mb, storing around 60 photographs (based on challenge image restrictions). Your current challenge photographs do not count against this total.

Keep an eye out for two things -- the first, print selling, you should expect to see within a week or so. Drew is working hard on this and the majority of it is complete. The second, as always, we expect bugs. Please, if possible, channel all bug reports and new ideas requests into this thread so that we can have them all in one place.

We're hoping that the portfolio administration page will be fairly straight forward, because at this time there is no FAQ available for it.

You can manage your portfolio by clicking `My Home` and then `My Portfolio`. Or by clicking here.

Your profile will show recent portfolio images, as well your portfolio is browsable by linking to "portfolio.php?USER_ID=[your_user_id]"...

Remember, this is a member-only feature.

Enjoy the portfolios and the rest of the site

I just created 2 collections and uploaded one picture in each. Seems intuitive to me I moved from one collection to another and deleted one collection I had done by mistake. The portfolio does show in my profile.
One thing is that when clickin on the 'original' link to , I guess, viesw the full size picture, it does not display it.
Otherwise I like that you have done the user interface consistent with the rest of the site, i guess you can reuse your code more easily and it make the whole site a nice 'whole' ...
congratulations guys

why can't i put a representitive pic on workshop collection? even though those will be random photos for the most part

Deleting a collection gives no confirmation, a refresh to show that it had gone would be useful.

A copy option would be useful too - no need to physically copy the image, just allow it to be shown in multiple folders.

The folder tree on the left is absolutely fantastic : )

(Bridges entry showing up fine now btw)

Pretty cool new option. So is it mostly meant as a "pbase" type of thing where you could give the Link to people and they could browse through the photos?

I tried to look at other user's "Portfollios" but can't find the option anywhere. Does each user have to enable the feature or something first so others can use it? Anyway thanks for the new feature!!

You can use your portfolio for any means you like -- one of the first that comes to mind is to share your work with other people. Another one of the biggest uses is to upload printable files, both for selling prints publicly as well as using our new printing service as your own photofinisher... stay tuned :) We also hope to introduce another new feature on the site that will use your portfolios -- more info later!

Just an fyi guys: the subscription link ( //www.dpchallenge.com/subscribe2.php?action=subscribe ) is giving me a 404 error when referenced from the membership info page ( //www.dpchallenge.com/subscribe.php ).
The new site features sound great, btw. I'm looking forward to finally officially becoming a member.
Keep up the god work!

If your post is gone and you're wondering why, it just means the issue has been solved. It's easier to keep track of this way.

Workshops aren't publically viewable, so you'd be representing nothing. :)

Only a few ways right now, though that'll be expanded to the profile search, home page, other places.

Right now you can click "Recent Portfolio Additions" from the user's profile.

so it's basically the honors system as to whether or not members display their currently running contest photos in their porfolios?
03/10/2003 12:01:02 AM · #16
Thats a good point, I noticed my entry for this weeks challenge is in my portfolio but can others see this image as well. I guess that could be a problem? You probably already thought of that. I love how the new portfolios work. Well done and thatnk you,,,,,Kevin

Your actual challenge entry will not show up in your portfolio, though it will show up in your portfolio manager (which only you can see). You are on the honor system with regards to uploading images that may give away your submission.

I know that the challenge photos don't count towards my limit. But say I want to delete horrid challenge photos I've taken. Will they disappear from the site for good or not?

You cannot delete your challenge images, as doing so would mess up a lot of other things on the site (namely challenge statistics). You can move challenge images to hidden folders, and they will not be 'browsable' in your portfolio -- but because they're challenge images, they'll still be available in other sections of the site where challenge images are shown.

is it possible to link to a folder inside a portfolio? all attempts at giving a URL to my friends led to a unexisting site. I can link to the "root" of my folder, but i cant seem to link to a folder inside it. Any idea on this?

edit: nevermind, i think it's working now..

I just posted a couple of images in my portfolio. They were shot for the exposition which will be shown in downtown Brooklyn at the end of March. They do not fit into any contest, but I'd appreciate your comments.

--- WARNING !!! ---
IF NUDITY OFTENDS YOU, PLEASE DO NOT GO TO MY PORTFOLIO
THANK YOU

Recent Portfolio Additions isn't updating on My Profile page.
03/10/2003 03:10:58 AM · #24
It looks like no new posts are being added to this forum post... but anyway...

Suggestion: How about instead of, or as well as, 'Recent Portfolio Additions', users can select, in order, a few photos that they would like to have featured there.

As a note, probably the best way to do it is by copying/pasting the Browse link on the left side of your manager.
