Congrats on the oh-so-techno winning entry, Peter! Now where's the camera in
that shot, between your legs or off to the right?

I just got an expert comment from a technicaly versed critic. My image of a living animal feeding with available light was made at 3 sec. The critter kept her body pretty still but had a real interest in her food. Gave a ghostly apperance with that solid body and transparent head. Now a low light shot where you can see some sort of focus leads one to think a tripod was used.

The comment was "camera shake blured focus." The grain and saturation did give soft focus. I wonder though was this an illogical comment saying I had camera shake in the animals head but not the rest of the body or was it high compliment that I hand held a 3 second exposure that was somewhat in focus?

Sorry to rant but, while my image is bad, it is hard to take silly comments in stride. Guess i better get a better tripod without the built in shake feature or a steadier earth to put it on.

I would have been happy to discuss this with the individual but there was no email listed. Hmmm i wonder why?

I do not profess to be a professional and I am sorry my system crashed mid comment and yes my full comment was part criticism and part compliment. And the first one was silly! probably the second one is too.
I do not list my email as it is a business email address and I would be willing to discuss it with you but not receive a multitude of unsolicited emails from all in sundry. By the way what settings did you use? iso etc!

In the user's profile, click the link on "Undiscolosed" where it says

Email: Undisclosed

This should bring you to a page where you can have dpchallenge send the user an email you compose, without dpchallenging revealing that user's email address to you. Should, but doesn't! I seem to remember this feature working previously. Lx, drewmedia, do you know about this?

Che_fox,
I think the camera is in front of the stone, and he's behind it. Great work, btw, Peter. Reminds me of some of Neil Turner's work at www.dg28.com

Wow, that site is so cool! I'm flattered! Why didn't you tell us all about it before? :) irae is a font of excellent information!

And yes, the camera is in front of the stones, zoomed in about 50% to compress the perspective a bit. I think I wore a trail into the lawn while running back and forth to snag the 160 or so shots I wound up taking, since the Canon PowerShot S40 does not have a remote control! I was there four times at different times of day to push the button, run to what's hopefully the right position, flatten my shirt, fix my hair (the wind was terrible, I had to take so many pictures just to get my pose, shirt, *and* hair to behave correctly) and hold myself still over and over and over. Those rocks are on the campus of my workplace, lucky me! That didn't stop me from heading in on a Saturday to get the right light, though. If only I'd been able to catch some fluffy little clouds in the sky.
