When I was looking for a good quality camerabag that suited my gear, I started looking on the internet for pictures of bags with gear in it, just to get an idea..there were hardly any photos. Still on any forum I come, I keep reading the same question: how many gear fits this or that bag? What is the perfect bag for my 2D and lenses? etc.

Yesterday evening I was feeling bored and made this website where everyone can post photos of their cameras and gear in their bag...you can pimp around with your gear and even do a good deed to the poor people still looking for a bag ;)
Check it out:
//home.zonnet.nl/camerabags

It is still empty because..well I just made it :)
You can contribute by clicking on the last link in the navigator (left) there you'll see a small mailform. If that doesn't work (in some IE versions it doesn't I believe..) then just send an email to me with all your photos and comments

i recently got this back pack style camera bag.
it's not HUGE - but i have inside right now

delsey gopix 80

300d mounted with sigma 105mm
EF 50mm f:1.8
EF 18-55mm
EF 75-300mm
lense hood
numerous filters
card reader
battery charger
remote release
lense tissue & cleaner
pen and paper and shrapie marker
numerous CF cards

still room to spare
if i removed the efs 18-55mm i could also fit a flash ( i dont own one yet )

i am quite pleased with it, and it's only $40 US

Also, a dumb question from me:

I bought a Nova 4 bag from Lowepro a while ago and I love it and the camera's sort of cradled in there, but I'm sure it's not the way it's supposed to be...I just can't figure out how to position those velcro things and those stupid line-art drawings from Lowepro don't really help!

Anyone got a pic from any bag similar to the Nova series with their camera in it? How are they supposed to sit?

I think this is a cool idea. I don't know about everyone else, but there's a zillion pockets, slots and doodads in my bag that I'd love to see other's interpretations of. However, I beg to ask why you've labelled it a Canon thing.

Not trying to resuscitate a Nikon/Canon debate here :) But seriously, if you're trying to see how camera bags are used and what's out there, does the camera brand matter? Looking at my bag, I'd have the same organizational challenge with a Canon as I do with a Nikon. You might create a more effective resource if you looked at it as an SLR (or digital SLR) bag gellery rather than an EOS bag gallery.

Cool idea either way...

I would love to see how anybody is using their Lowepro Nova (or similar) bags...I honestly don't get it!

Hey hello!!
It's nice to see people picking up the idea, please post all your photos and stuff at the site or mail me!! I'll be so happy to place them on the site!!

@Soup, can I place yours?? I'm still waiting for your link to open, but I'm hoping there is a photo of the bag with your gear in it !

I decided to stay with Canon, because there is already such a site for Nikon..but for me it makes no real difference. Shall I make it a site without specializing the brand of camera? This way, also Minolta or other brand- users will be helped!!
OK, I'll just do that! I'll change it!!
Thanks for the tip, you're right, the brand doesn't really matter, the size of the body and lenses are almost the same....

Hello again,
I've just posted my own gear and bag to make an example of how it can be done!
Now, there's still room for other bags :D :D

I had the same problem (not being able to see the bags)...I went to a camera store and they have brochures and catalogues of everything. You can still pick one out then go home and order it online if you want.

Yeah, but none of the Lowepro info shows exactly how the camera goes into the bag. Is the attached lens supposed to be facing down and supporting the rest of the camera? Are the velcro dividers supposed to be supporting the camera? Help.

my center area is shaped like the letter T
the body fits in the top of the T, and the sigma 105mm lense attached sits in the leg of the T, and yeah it points downward. i put an extra padded spacer under the lense, for extra padding, and i can move that one up if i put the camera away with a smaller lense attached. keeps things nice and tightly in place. my other accessories go around the T in their own sectioned areas. i position the moveable dividers so that everything fits in quite tight, and won't rattle around.

for my shoulder bag - with my film SLR - i have the lense facing upwards. mainly so i can fit my 24mm lense next to it, and still close the bag. ( if i drop this one it's likely two lenses and the camera body would be damaged. )

i don't think this is as complicated as you are making it. make it so everything fits tight, and so when you put the bag down nothing is going to get jolted. say if you drop it by accident.

I can't say much, I paid a small fortune for my bag and can't get anything to really fit in it. The only way my 10D with a short lens fits in it is on its side. Straaaange. The only dividers it came with are really tall cylinders for telephoto lenses. Straaaange again. Good bag if I can ever figure it out.

I submitted a couple photos of my backpack and I'll try to do one for my shoulder bag later...

it's too bad you paid a small fortune for it...

i'd have to say i will prbably stay away from lowepro in the future.

the backpack i have is made by delsey for the bogen brand.
for it's size i was suprised at what fit in it, and how easy it is to reconfigure. they also have some larger sizes, but i was looking for as compact as would be useful.

I'd help if you had this also sorted by camera type, so that, I for example, can click on 10D and see what kind of bags ppl use and HOW. Might give me some ideas on re-arrangement.

I have thought of that, but I thought that the sizes of the cameras aren't really that different... now you can still see what camera people have and what bags. The site is still fresh (two days old) and who knows what it'll do in the future!

Keep em coming people!! And thanks already for the ones who've already posted!!

well maybe the canon 300D, 10D and 20D aren't that different, but compare that to an Pro-sumer like the Olympus E-10 with a fixed lens (I think) and the game changes.
Same goes with battery grips.

i can't take a photo of my bag with the gear in it, because i have to use the gear to take the picture...

unless you take black & white negatives.

I agree, but don't you think that it still is a tremendous job to separate all cameras, can you imagine how many sub-sites I have to make? Say there are 15 different bags (just a number) and there are, what, let's stick to 15 different cameras...that's 15 times 15 different (=225!!!) sub-sites! And I have to upload them all seperately without having actual data on it (they're empty and I think a lot of sub-sites will remain empty for a long time).... :( not a good thing thus you can imagine!
Anyway, when there are a lot of bags&cameras itsn't that hard to make that separation (just link to existing pages).

I don't see the point of having to choose from a lot of bags when you're having a digicam with a fixed lens. It's only the cam you have to bag, not a whole range of lenses too...the website is about bags for (D)SLR's. My bag (the Stunner from Crumpler) is suited for digicams I think, or maybe bags a little bit smaller are more suited...
Do you have any idea how to incorporate digicams in a smart way (without going 'over the top'..are there actually people with digicams looking for the bags listed on this site? If so...I can show the bag for my Powershot A70, it fits perfectly and still has room for spare batteries and a CF card!!

A possibility is to photograph your bag WITHOUT the cam in it...just leave the space where your body usually fits empty! That will give the visitors a good enough idea, right? I put my analogue EOS 1000F in place of the Rebel, they're almost the same size...that's another idea!
