This will be a collection of dogs. I thought that there are several different ways to go with this and I think the one I like the most is by breed. We will do a breed project and assign different breeds to be photographed.

Now, rather than just say we are going to do abc breeds, I will offer the idea up that if you have a certain breed you have already photographed or want to photograph please email me at: DNeufer@stny.rr.com with the breed of the dog in the subject line. I will collect the names and breeds and update this post as this project grows. When we reach a min. of 25 breeds we will start putting it together. If we have more breeds available we can either start a second project or build on the original.

Anyone that wants to help with the co-ordination of the this project is more than welcome to step up and volunteer. ;)

Deannda

Goal

The goal of this project is to represent as best as possible the global diversity of the Dog community. The main work lies with you the participant, it is your responsibility to decide which breed you would like to photograph and then let me know.

NOTE: Similar to the other colaborative projects - the goal here is a poster sized image photos from photographers who love their dogs. Each photographer will sign a release granting the right to use the photograph in this project, and in return will receive nonexclusive rights to sell the resulting combined poster and keep any profits earned from those sales. A fixed price schedule will be determined for sales on DPC Prints only, but participants will be able to sell the project elsewhere at varying prices.

Eligibility and Selection

This project is open to all Registered Users of DPChallenge (but is not a DPC-sponsored project). All breeds will be considered and recognized and if enough participants are involved we might even be able to put together two posters.

Deadline:

I would like to not really set a specific deadline at this point. I would rather wait and have the best possible photos for this project. And give people a chance to get involved but with the holidays it might take more time.

Legal:

Since, by submitting a photo to this project, you are giving the other participating photographers the right to sell/market the entire presentation in unmodified form, each person will be required to sign a release form specifically for the photograph they enter, specifically for this project. This will also give the other participants the right to market and sell the final product.

Marketing Suggestions:

Since everyone participating in this project is already a part of the DPC community, but some are not members yet, you, as an individual will have the right to sell the finished product in any market of your choice. IF you choose to use DPCPrints, there will be set prices for the final product, no one will be allowed to undercut someone else in order to sell more prints.

Size and Resolution of Submitted Photograph

I will let everyone know in each individual project what final size will be require but will ask that the final photograph entered be at least a 300 DPI resolution. Since we will have a different number of people on each project the final size will be posted accordingly after I get out my calculator and get my math brain into gear.

If you have any other question or want to participate, please email me directly as it will be much easier for me to contact you in return and add you to the email list for the project. You can click my name and click my email in my profile, I have changed it so it shows.

Thank you everyone, so far we have aboard:

We...Must...Have...Dogs! There are so many folks out there who have dogs or at least know someone who would allow you to photograph theirs (you could bribe them with a photo and treats). Please if you can photograph a certain breed of pooch, let us know via E-mail ( Neuferland) and I will be watching the thread posts for those who just want to post here. Thanks to those who are already participating, and those who want to.

Wow, one of these projects I can participate in, well, sort of. I have access to two adorable Maltese doggies. Now, they do not act like show dogs instead they pretend they never get fed. Ever. They are quite cute and I had a picture of one of them in my portfolio until I thinned it out. Are you looking for show quality dogs or just regular pets?

Oh! I just checked my portfolio and Madeline is still in there! Here she is:

They dont have to be show quality but definatly of pure breeding. Send neuferland an email with the breed as the subject. Thanks for your interest.

Do you have access to any other dogs?

We still need lots of breeds!

Oh and they don't necessarily have to be a PURE breed dog, just so you can tell what breed they are. I also have a dachshund but I couldn't tell you if that is her only breed. I also have a Cocker Spaniel but my terrier is cuter :)

I haven't gotten it yet, my mail has been acting up, I'm organizing this, the cats and a surprise Christmas Gift for my daughter's riding instructor. I've had more mail in the last week than I've had all year, LOL!

Did you just send it?

If I've missed anyone else, please let me know

Well, you can count on my detector dog Snoopy. He's a pure-bred beagle from New Zealand: classic tri-colour (black/white/tan). I don't have any real good pictures of him yet, but I'll work on it.

Too bad my old s602z focussed on his nose...
