Alphabet Soup

Another collaborative project…

Greetings to everyone again. The Dreamland project is underway. I promised another group project that would help include everyone who wanted to participate in the first project.

The Alphabet Soup project will produce a poster with 26 photographs by 26 photographers. I need 25 additional photographers for this project. That won’t include everyone who signed up, but it will include most of you. The initial photographers who are eligible for this project are:

Enigmania - "K"
Doctornick - "J"
Thatcloudthere - "X"
Aplomb76 - "A"
Dianab - "H"
Harold1066 - "M"
Clubjuggle - "E"
Laurielblack - "R"
Pcody - "W"
Xtabintun - "Z"
Generale - "L"
Nico_blue - "V"
Bradp - "D"
Digital_Quixote - "I"
Jenesis - "N"
Tranquil - "Y"
Mark of SRQ - "T"
Blemt - "C"
Kennyt - "Q"
CODE - "F"
KaDi - "P"
Dclarke - "G"
Micknewton - "U"
Lenkphotos - "S"
Artan - "B"
jmsetzler - "O"

The letters were assigned by sorting the DPC user ID against the alphabet, so there is no bias in this list beyond that :)

The project:

We will be creating a poster that contains all the letters of the English alphabet. Each letter will be accompanied by a photograph of an object representing that letter. The individual image blocks will look like this:

The blocks will be combined and put into a single poster sized presentation. Each participating photographer will be able to sell/market/distribute this presentation in unmodified form, the same way we are doing it with the first project. Each photographer will be asked to sign a release granting these rights and allowing the other photographers in the project the same rights. I will assign everyone a letter once we have the 25 photographer spots filled.

The photo you submit must be 2.75” wide and 3” high (vertical orientation) at 300dpi.

Me me me! Pick ME!

Will there be a theme?

Am I allowed to state letters that I would not want?

Thanks for posting during my lunch hour, you're very thoughtful.

I have decided on a method to assign letters. I will announce that after we have the 25 participants for the project.

Just letters. You will get to pick what you photograph to go along with your letter.

A photographer in a recent issue of Lenswork, that features portfolios of B&W photographs, created a set of 26 images - one for each letter. Although his wasn't a collage, it may be instructive for participants in John's project to check this out for ideas. It was quite impressive.

(I'm at work, but will post more info, incl. issue #/date, later, ..if anyone's interested..)

I'll try this -- small format (this is close to the size of a standard business card) is supposed to be one of my specialties.
