I just took a look at the gallerie for the S5100 in the camera section and I felt like exchanging with the other owners. I allready exchanged mail with deapee who I think takes really cool shots. He's got the highest rated so far, I'm second (so far...) and drz01 holds third. Anyways, I just feel a little friendly competition among ourselves would be fun (all you others that have the S5100 also, ladies too!)so I invite you all to go look at the FujiFilm FinePix S5100 gallerie and place a few comments!

I love my new cam but do not have enough time yet to shoot enough pictures. Been rainy and dreary since i got my new toy.

Same here buddy, I keep shooting in my appartment. I'm feeling a bit limited these days... Here's an outdoor one that I took a week ago.

I was surprised to see the result. I resized the picture only. No editing. I was surprised because after discovering that the macro feature is, well I find it poor (I don't know what you guys think...)I was beginning to think that I had a cheap camera... But that result there really cheered me up.

This is a classist thread...what about all the other Fujifilm users??

We need to unite to conquer the world...we must defeat the 300D...or maybe buy one??

Depends which camera you are holding at the time, Konador!!

I think Fujifilm should stick together, but not too close there, guys!!

I just got one this week to replace my broken S3000 (Thanks Nuno for the suggestion!) Still learning all the functions- so far, I love it! It's a logical step up from the 3000 to eventually getting a dSLR someday.

The weather here has been pretty dreary also- winter storm warning tonight- so I haven't been able to take it out much. I hope to set up a little makeshift studio in my house to get something together for the next challenge.

deapee checking in :-D Great to see the new(er) camera club growing :-)

Hey deapee! I love your dog!
11/24/2004 06:36:06 PM · #16
haha thanks...it's actually my sister's dog and her name is hero -- she actually has a collar with the name on it but I was too stupid to put it on.

With work and everything (like the sun not being up while I'm not at work), it's been so hard to find something to shoot or the motivation to shoot. That is where my entry for b&w II came out -- I had to drag myself out and my girl, and it turned out to be a really fun night (a little scarry with some of the places we went but still fun).

Who's gonna be the first to ribbon with the s5100 :-D

I have an S602. have an older 1Mp cam too, and might one day get an S2 or 3...used prolly. The Nikon D70 is getting tempting...and i can use the lenses on the Fuji (reverse thinking there, huh?)

I got my 602 form a guy who 'upgraded' to a D300. See, they DO some good after all!

To all you Fuji cam folks - go check this site ( I particiapte in both, you can too). Free challenge site similar to this, different voting methodoligy, comments like here (well..better me thinks, fewer entries). Biggest diff is there you have 2 weeks to enter and editing is practically unlimited, and no, it is not a digital art site!

Good job rallying the troops. I think the S5100 is a great camera. I would seriously consider buying one if I did not already own a S7000. I am waiting for them to come out with the S7100, you know, 6mp or 8mp and 10x zoom. They got the technology, so it should not be too difficult.

Eptasdi, you made a good choice upgrading. I remember your story of the broken camera.

Good luck to all.

I'm surprised they haven't come out with a 7100, 8mp and 10x. Give 'em time, they will.

Can't believe the way prices have fallen in the past year. Got the 5100 for only $20 more than the price the 3000 was last March. (On sale for $319)

So far I'm finding the focus to be a little soft, need to play with the settings and get to know it better.

The sun finally came out today, but after an incredible meal I'm so stuffed I need to go lay down on the couch for awhile. ;-)
