I came 119th and I've never been happier. I got lots of positive comments and two great people even added it to there favourites.

But...

I did get 2 1s and 6 2s. I fully understand that a photo can't and shouldn't appeal to everyone, it would be nice to get some feed back from people who didn't like it. I'm not going to send nasty messages or cry over it. I just want to learn and some times the best way to get that is through criticism.

Thanks

Paul

99% of photos in challenges receive at least *some* 1s or 2s. There's really nothing to explain it other than the fact that there will always be a certain portion of a group or community that just simply gets off on playing the bad guy. There is software that is intended to weed out voting of that nature, but it can't catch everyone, and I have no doubt in my mind that many people have figured out how to get around it somewhat. You just have to ignore anomalies like yours (2 1s and 6 2s is a very small percentage), and go with the curve.

Everyone talks about wanting feedback from the people that vote 1 or 2 or 3.. but the truth is, I think many people that vote that way, especially on more technically good photos, don't actually have feedback. They simply don't care.

I know for an absolute, indisputable fact that all the 1s and 2s found on most challenge images are automatically put there by the site admins' code.

They spent a lot of time putting this site together and creating a voting range of 1-10, so they want to make sure that it's seen to be used. Naturally, it would be a fool who believes that anyone would vote their wonderful image so low in reality.

I have made a comment on the photo in the challenge about scoring. Please look at it. Photo number 119.

I cant remember the site... but there is one that REQUIRES you to leave feedback if you score a photo at a 3 or 4 (I think) or less... could that be done here? Im sure it could be set at any number...

Just a thought...

Please do a search about the question: "Can't dpc force low voters to leave a comment?" There are a zillion discussions about this topic.
