I may be finding myself in Skagway Alaska this year. I won’t be able to do Brooks, but I’m wondering if there’s an awesome wildlife adventure i should do while I’m there. I’m thinking icebergs/whales ?

Do you have any recommendations? I need some help! thanks!

If I found myself in that area with some time, I would look at what tours might be available in the Alexander Archipelago; I'd be particularly interested in Glacier Bay NP.

Why do they interest you? (I don't know the Alexander Archipelago -- I'll have to look it up. Thanks!)

In addition, there are lots of wildlife tours as this is some truly wild area. Over 1000 islands stretching along about 300 miles of coastline.

It may not relate to what you can do, but check out Alaskan Dream Cruises, a locally-owned company that Penelope and I took a 49-passenger, rustic small boat cruise with, and pointed Mark Wiley at, and he and his dad did it, and it is just fantastic for everything you'd want: glaciers, folklore, marine wildlife, whales, kayaks and RIBs, naturalist accompanies, reasonably proceed, very very enjoyable. NOT a cruise ship. I don't know under what circumstances are getting you to Alaska, but if you can tack on 5-6 days for oe of those cruises you'll never, ever regret it.

Neat has been on an Alaska cruise a few years ago. Don't know if she was anywhere near where you are going, but she may have some thoughts.

Last time I was up in Alaska was in 1981, and I was just a child. SO long ago and only in Anchorage area with a few trips up more remotely on the Russian river for some fishing. Portage Glacier was so gorgeous and one of my favorite places. To be honest I found all of Alaska and can’t wait to see what you capture as I have no doubt you will create amazing images!

That's the type of thing I was looking for, but hoping for something a bit shorter. We might only have a 3-4 day type of availability. I would love to get as much wildlife as I could. So far, everything seems to need a week or more. Though their 5 night, 6 days might be feasible.

That's just it -- there's so much, it's hard to know where to start!

You would not regret it if you managed to eke out some extra time. Trip of a lifetime. SO interesting...

Sure have, Skagway was by far the funkiest town we visited in Alaska we absolutely loved it! You have to do a whale cruise, pretty expensive but worth it! The water rafting trips are spectacular also.

We really enjoyed our trip on the White Pass Railroad, which left and returned to Skagway. Just beautiful!
