A few weeks ago I submitted an image to the Body parts challenge and I got a sweet red ribbon for the eye of my son:

If you want to know more about how I shot that one, you can watch this video (it's in Italian but I added subtitles):

I enjoyed the vid Alex... It's fun to see a workflow that doesn't depend heavily on post-processing. I was impressed with just how little work you had to do in post.

ETA: And still one of my all-time favorite sci-fi movies. Wonder how many DPCers weren't even alive when it was released? (Holy cats, 1968!)

Thank you! The more I go on, the less I want heavy post processing. Some shots need more and some others, like this, rely mostly on the lighting, even an easy one.

I was born after '68 (I'm 46 now), but 2001 has always been my favorite movie. My graduation paper at university was about Arthur C. Clarke (the main subject was one his major novels, Childhood's End) and Kubrick is my favorite director so it's not hard to understand where my lave comes from. Moreover I can say that I was a super sci-fi enthusiast and I read hundreds of books :)

Thanks my friend. I decided to go with shorter and more frequent videos on my channel and hopefully I can keep the pace I had two years ago :)

We studied this movie in a college film class I took circa 1971 -- there's also book on the making of the movie. Some of the shots were matted (composited) from over 20 separate clips -- all analog post-processing then!

The analog post processing is something that new generations can hardly understand. When I started working with video I was at my university local channel and the first two years we worked with analog editing

Remember it was all physical film, not even video processing.

I know and it's amazing how it looks more realistic than modern productions!
