When is graffiti not really graffiti?

I would say this DNMC. This mural would have been commissioned by the council for an artist to paint, it�s wall art, there�s nothing illicit about this, thoughts??

Agree with you on this. Here in Taipei there is a whole area full of graffiti.Some are really superb wall art from famous graffiti artists. The city gave up cleaning up the walls in that area, making it now a place to visit. The Ximen district is a place for young people to hang out. It is pretty safe as long you don't interfere with the gangs. There used to be a big Godzilla built with empty spray cans.

Well, *I* agree; that's not graffiti by any stretch of the imagination. But challenge descriptions aren't rules, and voters will vote the way they gotta vote, so what can we say?

Are you sure it was commissioned?

I've seen some incredibly elaborate pieces that weren't authorized.

I would think that it's on the voters, but if you know the piece was authorized, it shouldn't count......or should it?

Besides, considering how long it would've taken to paint this, the artist most assuredly had permission to do the work. And the key thing about "graffiti", IMO, is that it's by nature illicit. But that's just me.

but if you look at the results of Graffiti II, the majority of entries are of that illicit ilk.
