So wanting to see what the technical descriptor for Impressionism would be that people may be looking for, beyond what my own understanding was I ran across this helpful article - but had to absolutely laugh at this

No use of black quickly followed with an example that is heavily using black . . . LOL.

So, gotta love that art always has ‘rules’ and sometimes breaking them will yield great success!

Even after looking it up, I'm not totally sure what it is or is not for photography. I'm sure I won't be the only one.

This is a very nice little video about Impressionistic Photography. Yes, she is selling her course at the end, hope its OK to post here - no I have no affiliation to Eva Polak and I don't get any incentive/commission for sharing this, just thought some of you may find it useful, both for creating as well as judging ;-P

Thanks Gaby that video was great, I realise I’ve taken many photos that represent Impressionism in the past, now to chose one, that’s the hardest part.

Thank you, Erin, for offering this sweet, pleasant essay on impressionism and impressionistic photography. It is encouraging and inspiring, maybe enough so to get this lazy frog off the log and into the water.

Thanks, that was helpful. I think many of my poor to mediocre performing entries have fit this, but they are not the typical wow-factor shots that normally do well here. So I think it is a good and different topic.

Right there with ya... in fact, my two lowest-scoring entries of all time fit this challenge:

I still like the second of the two, and can't believe it scored a 4.29, LOL.

And yeah ha, The contradiction, goes to show sometimes the rules have to be broken, and they still produce wonderful results.

Absolutely! I just found it so funny literally a contradiction from one point to the other. Gotta love it! I may need to try and shoot something fresh too!

The following link helped me a lot
https://expertphotography.com/impressionist-photography/

But I am stil not sure if we are allowed to use "change photo's into impressionistic paintings" type of software to create something impressionistic or if the photo should be impressionistic by exclusively using camera techniques such as zooming, focus, moving the camera ect.

For the challenge, the answer is you can do it any way you like within the editing rules.

Thanks for clearing that up :)

Just finished voting on this one. Wow, what a treat! My average vote in most challenges is typically from 6.0 to 6.5. It exceeded this by a bit. I won't be hurt if my own entry (which I like) performs only mediocre.
