Have an aftermarket battery that is slightly swelled. Fits into the camera, but does not lie flat on a table. Probably need to toss this one?

If it just came too big that might just be bad quality-control but if it has actually "swelled" that sounds hazardous to me -- some bad chemistry occurring inside. Any way to contact the manufacturer/distributor?

Any swelling of a Li-ion battery is a bad, bad sign. Dispose of properly.

That's what I thought. It is an inexpensive off-brand anyway. Disposed of.

ASAP!

That thing busts open and/or leaks it'll take your camera with it.

Or start a fire? I hear electric (courier) bikes are starting apartment fires in New York ... :-(

Hoverboards do that as well, and Chevy Volts have been known to flame out.

I don't know if the small battery in a camera would burn or not.
