corrupted card - is there any FREE recovery servic

Ok -- for only the 2nd time in 18 years, I have a corrupted card. When I try to view it on the computer or on the camera, it tells me I need to format it to use it.

I've been searching online -- and things say they're free, but it's only free to download their software, not to actually use it. One of the softwares has actually found the files, but wants $60 to recover them. And that's not to buy the program -- that's to use it for a month. I wouldn't even mind buying a program, even though I never need it, but I don't need a monthly or yearly subscription, and the program itself is $150. :(

These are photos from work that I really need. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What brand is the card?

Have you looked at this one?

It is not free but is reasonably priced and claims unlimited recovery within the subscription period. I've used their software in the past, but not recently. While free is good, good is not usually free.

Yep, that is what it means. Actually sounds like a relatively reasonable cost. The alternative is re-creating the work, if that is even possible.

Well -- other "free" ones weren't able to recover anything, so I went with the one that worked. luckily, the did have a coupon code, so I was able to get it down to $41 for the one month subscription. It has recovered half of the photos I need. And it looks like the other half will be ok.

Cross your fingers that the card works after I format it because it's my $400 card. But I'm pretty confident it was just the software that got messed up

I would be very concerned with the reliability of that card, and be careful with it going forward.

Yeah -- I'm a bit worried, too, but I can't really replace it -- too expensive.

It's actually the Sony one, too, not the off-brand that recently came out.

How old is the card? The only time I ever had a corrupted card, the shop replaced it.
