The former 5th-place image in the "Asymmetry III" challenge has been disqualified for failure to provide a valid original in a timely manner. Congrats to our new HM.

Hi, I have just come back on line - my area was without electricity since Sunday night 21.00 :-(.

Can you make an exception?

Please do, SC. Power problems in South Africa are very serious.

Understood. Something to consider if you're in that position ... perhaps login using your phone and drop a PM to an SC member, or better, create a ticket via Help / Contact Us, rather than leaving us in the dark as well (pun intended).

If it's something that happens frequently in your area it might be prudent to just submit your original ahead of time, like when you submit your challenge entry.

We'll discuss it.

I don't know what Gaby's situation is now, but such a long period without power isn't normal. When we have scheduled power cuts they usually last two hours two to three times per day. And I'm wondering whether she was able to charge her phone during that time.

I have been traveling ( no computers)and never know what will win or flop. Bear pointed out the button to me that you can pre-submit your original and steps. Worked well for me, like now I am in Chicago for the last 10 days, so just entered it and submitted original at the same time. Super easy and helpful in all sorts of situations.

I never know either, so I will submit an original if I'm traveling if I think it has a chance in Hades.... But for something like an extended power failure, because I wasn't expecting it, I'd never pre-submit. Now if you're someone who regularly ribbons, maybe you should just submit originals every time! :-)

We do have a couple of DPC members that submit an original with their challenge entry quite regularly.

To submit your original without being prompted to do so, you simply use the "submit your original(s)" link, as indicated in the screengrab below. This is viewable on the left side of the page, directly under the thumbnail of your challenge entry and the "Preview Your Entry" link.

She doesn't say she was traveling and this is a long time without power. A major unplanned disruption through no fault of hers should be granted leniency.

+1

A good idea is also to upload to workshop. I email myself the original file also, if I’m travelling because there was one time where I came in sixth and somebody in the top five got disqualified and I needed to submit an original. Thankfully I had emailed myself so all was good.
