This is kind of what DPC has come to mean for me. "That comment". The one that means that someone *really* got what it was that I saw, meant, and that somehow, the image was magical to me despite my inability to obviously convey those characteristics.

I am so over that the image hit near the bottom of the barrel, 'cause with one extremely eloquent comment, my image became immortal. That's all I ever want from my images. I want just one person to see it from the depths of their soul and like it.

It's funny, too, 'cause one of the things that having a gallery does for you is give you an idea of what has general appeal and what kind of images have a real gut level, in depth appeal that seems to inspire.

I certainly don't mean to embarrass anyone but by the same token, I want to express my gratitude to the commenter and IMO one of this community's discerning viewers.

(Must be, right, 'cause he picked mine!) LOL!

You *could* provide a link to the image, or at least specify which challenge it's in ... :-)

ETA: I completely support your sentiments -- I had the same experience (several such comments) with this early Brown-ribboner ...

Hee hee, given "29 of 35" and the fact that there are only two comments on it, the comment is pretty easy to identify :-)

Somebody (hopefully) reading this thread in a month or two probably won't find it so easily ...

He always gives well thought out comments that tell the photographer what he gets out of the image.

Far more insightful than myself and ol' Grog would have done for it.

My point was less to point out this particular commenter than it was to express how one outstanding comment can make all the difference in how one feels about the results of their entry.

As it's generally easier to ask forgiveness than permission, I didn't contact this commenter to ask if it was okay that I brought him into the discussion.

I am always humbled and grateful to receive recognition from him in particular, but this thread is to honor the many who take their time to express their view, perspective, and/or acknowledgement of an image that reached them.

Having been here a week or two, I've been treated to a number of these delightful moments of their thoughtful expressions.

The comments that truly make a deep impression on me are people I've come to know in my time here.

Unsung heroes, truly giving people, and the kinds of eyes, minds and hearts whose impressions of the work that they feel moved to comment upon are priceless.

It truly makes it more than worthwhile, these moments are pure gold.

I am humbled and grateful *almost* beyond words to express what they mean to me.

I agree Jeb but also this particular commenter is fantastic. I'm a fan. And yes he has been the highlight of many a challenge entry for me.

I've been gone a long time and just returned. I've made it a personal goal to comment on every photo, however, I'm not very well-versed in the art of critiquing photographs. So, I comment on whatever first comes to mind. Probably not very helpful.

I find that nearly all comments are helpful :-)

I don't get a lot of comments, but was very happy with the one I got from him for the same challenge.

Unfortunately I'm not good at commenting, so I rarely do.

affecting what "first comes to mind" is an essential part of what a photo does, so telling us is very helpful.

Some photographers are very in-depth which is good as they tend to see beyond the basic imagery. We should all practice this and see what it brings us. ;-)

Keep up the good work.

I've been *most* pleased to get comments from you.

I find that nearly all comments are helpful :-)

Perhaps more importantly, whether or not the comment is "helpful" to the photographer it will be helpful to you ...

This is a really important point! Thinking about how the photo impacts you can give very valuable insight to your own photographic process.
