Today marks exactly 20 years since DPC ran its first challenge. In internet time, that's an eon: few user-driven sites have remained viable that long.

We've marked the anniversary with a quirky challenge, a "limited free study" with 4 themes to choose from. In addition to the usual ribbons, we'll be handing out a free, 1-year membership to DPC for the highest-scoring image in each theme. The winners may use the membership themselves or designate a recipient to receive it, whichever they wish.

Let's make this a good one, and thanks to all our supporters over the years :-)

I've been so very blessed to be a part of DPC. It has saved me many times.

I think it might have something to do with your brilliant management :) Conflicts were diffused, new ideas from members supported (where it was possible to do). Without you and other dedicated members (SC and ordinary) DPC would be long gone. And also, the love of photography somehow allowed the political divides coexist, amazing!

To be honest I am a bit confused how "anniversary" could be depicted without mentioning the "year(s)"? "20" and "happy" are easier to separate.

Happy 20th to DPC, and to our entire community!
I can hardly believe it has been 20 years... June will mark 20 years here for me, and it just does not seem possible that two decades have passed. Where does that time go??

Wow, 20 years! (I'm a member for more than 15 of those by now)
Question: What does w-word in the challenge description mean?
What I found in the urban dictionary for instance didn't make too much sense in this context.

I think it means "there's always a typo" ...

Remember it's the rules and the "extra rules" which count toward it being a valid image -- the "description" section is a suggestion but not subject to DQ.

The way I'm reading the challenge is there are 4 possible subjects to shoot

1. Happy
2. 20
3. Year
4. Anniversary

The challenge will have the normal ribbon winners but each of the subjects will also have a winner and those winners will receive a free annual membership. I don't know what the w word means either.

Bad typo. Should have been "one-word" and it is fixed. Soldier on, netizens!

You can depict IN THE IMAGE any number for the anniversary chosen: it's just that the TITLE must be one of those 4 theme words, and only that word. That's how we will sort 'em for the prizes :-)

Happy Anniversary DP Challange.
I am so happy to be part of this creative team that makes DP Challenge the special place it is.
Thank you to all who run DP and all who submit and all who so graciously share their thoughts.

OK, so these words must be titles of the images and not strictly singular subjects of these photos?

I just checked, we started in the same year, just few weeks apart :)

For me DPC has been a great learning journey and source of ongoing motivation .

Correct: the four words are THEMES, and you choose one to INTERPRET, then title your entry with the theme you chose to use.

I did shoot but did not enter as it felt like a shoe in, but now looking at the entry's it did work. I got stuck on the title. Should have just entered it. =(

You at least shot something. I tried to figure out something fitting but didn't come up with any idea at all.

Yup -- that was the problem -- two of the four were quite difficult to show.

You should do a "Send DPC an anniversary card" challenge -- extended editing.

I meant to enter... even knew what I wanted to shoot... Even bought the item I needed for it.

Then, I had to go out of town and couldn't do it.

I'm disappointed; I wanted to participate.

I'm heartbroken I didn't enter. My ability to shoot is very hit or miss.

But it is not an understatement to say that DPC changed my life. For the better ;)

A slight delay in awarding the prizes for this challenge as promised. Better late than never?! :-)
