Good morning all of you wise and wonderful people!

Because I am not very bright, and/or getting old and/or, well, you know.... I paid to update my Nik Efex package. But now I have multiple versions (Google, DXO, etc) and it's applying two layers every time. The website says to delete older versions - I've tried! I'm still getting duplicate layers every time I apply one of the effects. Thoughts? Do I need to uninstall everything and start from scratch? And how do you uninstall the Google versions? I can't seem to find all the copies... they're like ants... they're everywhere!

Thanks!

There is a feature in Nik to apply multiple treatments/recipes in one edit. Could that be somehow creating the dupliciate layers?

I am still using the Free version that Google gave out a few years ago, however. I use Corel PSP, which doesn't always work with the latest and greatest photoshop plugins.

Nah, it is literally applying the exact same layer twice. I am regretting the upgrade.

Well, they have VERY good chat-help support, give 'em a try. And if your only problem is getting an extra layer, how bad is that? You can immediately delete the redundant layer. And the tools are much improved...

Yeah, they sent me an email. I need to go searching for folders everywhere and eliminate any duplicates. Apparently it goes many places!

It is just a pain to have to remove the layer each time. I'd rather it just work. :-) Also, about every fourth time, the B&W conversion doesn't actually convert to B&W. It shows the layers, but stays in color.

I think the only change from the last version I have is additional presents in Nik Silver Efex. All the version numbers remained the same. But the perspective tool may be new to me. Might have to figure out how to use that one!

That reminded me of a frequent issue that I have with their Vivezia plugin. Often it opens a photo at about 50% saturation. So I can't really tell what any adjustments are doing to the image. I just don't use Vivezia much because of that.

Careful with upgrades Steve. I upgraded to PSP2022 and my Nik filters won't work in this version (one exception is Nik Sharpen Pro). They all work fine with PSP2020. I upgraded to a new computer and now I have enough horsepower to run the Topaz AI software, so that makes losing the Nik filters a tad more palatable.

Thanks for the Tip, Barry. I'm still using PSP 2018 and am very careful about upgrading. I had the experience a few years ago of upgrading and finding my plugins no longer worked. I only take the upgrade now if there are enhancements I want and I can verify it will support my existing plugins. I've also switched to using Luminar for my RAW processing (Nice to be using one app that handles 3 brands of cameras and my drone) and it does so much that the work needed in PSP to polish it off is often minimal.
