People need to understand that "science" is a process and not a set of facts. As new information -- and maybe more importantly new ways of acquiring and analyzing information -- becomes available things will and should change.

Science is not the truth.
Science is finding the truth.
When science changes its opinion, it didn't like to you.
It learned more.

It's called confirmation bias.
Even worse though is when some people are presented with indisputable facts which run contrary to their beliefs, they double down further on their erroneous position.

And there you've explained why you won't be swayed by my beliefs/truths and I will not be swayed by yours.

So, this conversation is fruitless.

Carry on without me, if you like. :D

I don't have the link on where I watched a doctor presenting the fact that vaccinated people shed the virus over 200% more than unvaccinated (FaceBook took my post down), so let's assume that vaccinated and unvaccinated shed the virus at the same rate.

Both do shed the virus if they have it. Vaccinated people can still get the virus.

It is true that vaccinated people are less likely to realize that they have the virus (lesser symptoms, but sheds just as much) and therefore continue to go about their lives... spreading the virus to both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.

I can find more, if necessary.

Hi Lydia,
I watched and read your 3 references. The first one is by a knowledgable immunologist that disputes the use of facemasks and discredits the CDC and FDA. The second one advocates the information by the CDC that the virus can be carried by vaccinated individuals but seems to lose its effectiveness more quickly than unvaccinated individuals. The third one states that breakthrough infections can spread quickly but are rare.
What I take away from these is that there is a lot of controversial and conflicting evidence out there and to understand the complexity and actuality of the information by reading or listening to opinions even those based on sound scientific evidence is nearly impossible. That being said I always keep an open mind to all information I read or hear as there is probably not going to be 100% agreement on anything and there is always going to be counter arguments.

(my emphasis) So why doesn't everyone get vaccinated? If vaccinated have no symptoms and don't get sick with covid, the worldwide problem is solved! No deaths, no hospitalizations!

Or is this too obvious? What am I missing?

The first one takes two seconds to find out he's full of shit.

EDIT:
From the second link:
Vaccines remain highly effective at preventing severe disease, breakthrough infections and disease among vaccinated individuals remain uncommon, and most of the new COVID-19 cases in the U.S. are among unvaccinated people.....The vaccines are designed to stop serious disease, hospitalization, and death and they are doing that to an extremely high degree—even against the delta variant.

Third link:
Masks and vaccination needed to prevent viral transmission.....In the meantime, basic hygiene, including masking, social distancing, regular testing and vaccines will continue playing a vital role in slowing transmission and preventing serious illness and death.

I don't think the articles could have been more explicit.

My beliefs are backed by science, yours unfortunately are not.

Let’s make it real Lydia. Not for the first time you trolled DPC for your agenda. Hopefully you will be spoken to again by the powers that be. This time trolling for the anti-vaxxers in the most obvious and clumsy manner. Personally I am so damn sick of this topic pushed by the far right flat earthers. I’m sure that I’m not alone in this regard . So perhaps your last sentence is a good idea. In fact I will join you. I’m out.

Oiii. Guess since I started this I should be the one to wrap it up. I don't see this going anywhere good.

Sorry - I WAS very happy to have been able to get the booster shot.

Stay safe (and healthy) everyone.
