a vote of 1 I'd cast (I NEVER vote 1) that should have been a 10! I know using the keyboard to vote holds this danger . . . but I think it's the first time I've done it. Luckily I caught it in time.
Thing is there were 4-6 other inexplicable votes among those I'd cast - I'd given 8 or 9 to images when I'd intended much lower scores. Maybe my fingers were off a row? Anyway, if you use the keyboard, always keep this in mind and review your votes once they've been cast. And if you get an inexplicable 1 on a superb image, this may be the reason. And if you score just plummeted, I am so very sorry :(

She's Old School. Everything is better with a numerical keypad. I used to vote KEYboard also until I started using this laptop which doesn't HAVE a numerical keypad. It doesn't work so well with top-row numbers :-) |

What Bear said. I'm on a PC and it's the easiest way for me to work. I am aware of the potential problems . . . just wasn't paying attention.
First time I've gotten off a row as far as I know, though. |

I use a PC and it does have a numerical keypad. I've never used it for anything. I just can't see how anything can be easier than clicking on numbers below the image. |

i never noticed this may be because I don't use PC and on Mac even if I punch in a number it doesn't do anything but expects to have mouse click :D
In business if something like this happens my users would complain, there is not good documentation around this and because of this we lost a "0" from a billion LOL |

I have done the same thing on my keyboard early on when I joined.
I used to tap out 10. Took me a good couple of months to figure out I was giving people a 1. |

Maybe it's because I used accounting software a lot in the past, but I find the numeric keyboard indispensable. However when it comes to voting, it's never even dawned on me to use the keyboard for voting.

Yeah, the nice thing about the numeric keypad is all the numbers are clustered and your fingers can dance very accurately :-) |

Remember "Tom Swifties"? *"I'm very sorry I did that!" Tom said ruefully.* :-) |

That was the case until online shopping problems caused me to move to a laptop. Although it has a numeric keyboard the layout is different enough to cause lots of errors.
In frustration yesterday I finally plugged in my old keyboard. When I feel like the world is a bit safer I plan to either repair or replace my desktop.

Actually, I DO remember them, Bear. I actually used to use them in my English classes. I had created a unit on humor and they were one of the things I included. Kind of a fun way to teach adverbs at the same time as I helped kids refine their understanding and use of irony, puns, and the like.

DPC is great for filling in educational holes. I was not aware of Tom Swifties (although various English teachers encouraged alternatives to 'he said'). Thank you Robert and Nikki. |
