Shutter speed must be over 1/1000.. to prove photo was taken from your vehicle.

I like the idea of the challenge. But I could take a blurry picture at something much slower than 1/1000 sec, also proving photo was taken from a moving vehicle.

Shutter speed 1 second - I think you can tell I took it from a moving car.

Picture from drivers seat should be ground for disqualification

Yes please.

90% of my photos for the last few years are taken form the passenger seat of a car. The shutter choice is always based on my mood during the trip (< 1/30 sec for motion blur >1/1000) so I hope it wouldn’t be restricted. But this is not my suggestion so I would happily work within any requirements set.

The last time I was a passenger in a car was when I took my car for service and with the third wave just getting started in South Africa, it's not going to happen again soon.

For safety reasons, taking pictures from the drivers seat should be discouraged. If that means you can't participate, so be it, better skip a challenge than cause an accident.

Consider broadening to include from things like trains, buses, bikes, etc. “From a moving mode of transportation” or, if that’s too cumbersome, maybe even more general “While moving”.

Agreed. I didn't mean this as a complaint. I skip a lot of challenges anyway. Right now I don't even go places where I could get interesting shots from a moving car.

"On the Road": Shoot from a moving car, bus, or train?
05/31/2021 08:39:15 PM · #11
I've taken many photos while behind the wheel of my car. Always when there isn't any other traffic around, but I have definitely held the camera in one hand while driving with the other.

I'm against any shutter speed limits as you can be quite creative with a slow, hand-held shutter speed while moving. Whether driving or not.

I confess I've done it too, but not recently, and only using small cameras and shooting blind. As I get older I've become reluctant to try it though.

I have done it many times over the years, never with the viewfinder, just shooting "from the hip" so to speak. Seldom get a good result shooting forward, but not so bad shooting out the side window :-)

We could run the challenge in Minimal Editing... Just sayin'...

Me too. (Although I'm in lockdown again, so maybe I won't even be in a moving anything.)

Prefer not minimal, but I feel the road should be in the photo otherwise it might just look like any old snap.
