I pretty much avoided the first couple of months because it seemed like the challenges were so specific, that I couldn't go out and shoot what I wanted.

But then I figured, "what the heck, I learn more with challenges for which I don't want to shoot", so I entered my movie stills, my water bottles, green without plants, apple, and overlays. But it's spring here -- we're getting wildlife and nice weather.

I have 5 different places that I'm so excited to go to shoot the types of things I love.

But starburst, footwear, kitchen art, nightmares and feet won't work with any of the things I'd really like to do. :(

Please, please, please, can we mix it up a bit more? Have some technique challenges that can work with any subject so we can play with our favorites a bit?

Up close
From afar
depth of field (shallow or deep)
focus stacking
details
moving wildlife
wildlife portrait
dramatic
fill the frame
golden hour
guess the light (morning, afternoon, evening, artificial, any modifiers used?, how many lights with what positions)
tiny
big
B&W
square crop

Photoshop has two crop overlays that I have no idea what they do -- triangle and diagonal. Do one of those
Do the golden ratio or rule of thirds again.
Animal profiles
Eye contact -- whatever your subject is -- it needs to be looking straight at the camera

Thanks in advance -- In these weird times, my introverted self has found it very easy to stay inside. Now that the things that I love are around to photograph, I'm trying to make myself actually go out and do it. It would be really helpful to have some extra impetus to do it!

The theory sounds good, but if you don't want specificity, moving wildlife and wildlife portrait sound pretty specific to me.

We're still in full lockdown.
Kind of hard to get wildlife photos if you're living in Ontario.

That was just two specific ones I threw in -- don't overlook the rest, please

Agree with you Wendy.

Footwear and feet within the same submission/voting window was a bit much (for me).

Blue Filter was a technical challenge.

So was Brenizer Method...

And Starburst in BW is too!

I don't like any of them. Ha! But, I entered two of the three.

The Powers That Be can not please everyone.

But, I think they really do try! :D

Go out! Go out and shoot the things you love, Wendy! Just for the pure joy of it.

If you get something you love, stick it in one of the Free Studies!

Yup. It is fun showing people. I don't really post on facebook often. I'd do a lot more on instagram, but it still is so difficult to post from the desktop -- and I don't want to post unedited photos. And I don't print things. So it's not nearly as much fun if no one sees them.

That's what always gets me. My wife will post on FB from some family event we went to, and then 3 or 4 days later I'll share mine. :-D

I do print most entries and a few other, though mostly 4x6s, and try to show them at least to family.

I just want to shoot some photos, but work has been slamming me pretty hard these last couple months.
