Know what? Though that color version is glorious in its own right, I prefer your black and white entry. In the color version I'm focusing on those green flames of onion stalks, supported by the handsomely detailed bulb. There's a dichotomy, and the whole doesn't completely satisfy (me). On the other hand, the black and white entry is of a piece. My attention is first drawn to the bulb and the beautiful textures and translucence of the skin. For awhile I explore this terrain. And then up to the stalks, the tonal transition, colorwise, being less stark. The shapes of these are now what intrigues me -- the dark, slender fingers of a woman's hand. The entire orchestra, not just the brass and strings. Just a personal take, having absolutely no quibble with those feeling otherwise. |
