Agreed, in this example user should have know what he/she is getting into and not make fuzz of it. I am on monthly payment plan and so far it is working well for me :)

That's part of the price to pay for discounted rates for longer term. You can't have people signing up for "pre-paid annual" and then cancelling after a month or two, and lather, rinse, repeat. So if you are offering a discounted rate for a yearly sign-up, then you want to ensure the customer stays for the year. You do that by not giving them an incentive to leave.
FWIW, Adobe has certainly been making good money on their subscription services. For non-pro photographers, their software is one of the best subscription deals out there, however. Income generates development. Development generates new features. |
