If I have my camera set incorrectly, in this case 12 hours out, will it be okay if the incorrect time (or date) is still within the challenge timeframe?

to me it is not because you won't be able to justify whether the camera was really offset or you took the shot off time and trying to fit in the challenge :(

Hi Marion - It's my opinion that you are probably fine as long as the date shown on the original file is within the valid date range for the challenge. Obviously it would be best to "fix" this on your camera ASAP. You're certainly taking yourself out of the "last minute entry club" because your last minute is 12 hours before deadline currently. :-)

Let me confer with other SC and see if there's a precedent ...

Marion - There are ways the date can be verified. If the date / time is within the submission phase of the challenge you'll be fine. In the meantime, please update your camera to the correct settings. Thanks. Send a note to SC if you need further clarification.

Thanks for the answer(s) Barry. I did fix the issue as soon as I noticed it and I haven't used the shots affected ( which were taken at 4.00pm but showed 4.00 am). There might be a possible Free Study shot in there - or Extended Free Study. Everything else has missed the boat.
