In Inanimate Macro II we can't use anything that is alive or ever has been alive or be DQd.

How far are we taking that, SC? I assume that we aren't going back to the place where plastic used to be alive dinosaurs, turned into carbon, and then made into plastic.

But... what about paper that used to be a tree, etc?

I assume metal, glass, and plastic are fine... But, does the image have to be all... or just mostly about them? For instance, would it be okay to have wood in the image as long as the focus of the image was glass?

I'm having the hardest time coming up with something for this challenge topic, although I know I will enjoy seeing what everyone else comes up with.

I'll let you know when I'm voting.

Ha! Thanks, Venser.

I'm wanting to know what's legal... to avoid a DQ, not a low vote. :D

Will I be DQd for shooting an image of paper, cloth, leather, wood... etc?

Is it alive? Depends what you mean by wood, otherwise no.
You're probably good.

We're made of stardust. Are stars made of us?

I think so ...

In other words dead leaves, seashells, pieces of wood and so forth are verboten.

Plastic is expressly suggested in the challenge description so I will heartily defend your right to use that ... :-)

Hope everyone has read the entire description AND extra rule - which on this one went way beyond the ridiculous IMO.

A bit of clarity, perhaps...

Any object that in its current state/form was part of a living thing is off limits, however if the material's form has been changed, e.g. paper from wood pulp, then it is OK. Also, the prohibition on living or previously living material applies only to the subject, not background.

Thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to know.
