I expected to score low because of the abstract nature of the image. I did not expect to pick up the brown (but I am not upset, don't worry ;-) )

But why is nobody except kiwinick (thanks for that) leaving any comment?
What did you see? How did it come across? What was your interpretation? What led you to the score?
Please?

I scored it 6. Didn’t’ the mind the abstract and could see that it met the challenge to some extent but felt there needed to be some part in focus to lead the eye.

I agree with Mike. If you, for instance, had put a small in focus asteroid barreling into the center of the hole it would have given more purpose and interest to the image.

Thank you both for your comments. It gives some insight and is helpful.

I did consider actually the opposite, i.e. edit out the central light blob, to make it look even more like the real black hole, but was not sure whether it was allowed in standard editing.

I don't know what I'm looking at, nor do I care.
It may meet the challenge, but you'd never know.
I prefer, and reward, outside the box entries, but I couldn't get behind this one.

With or without the central light blob wouldn't have changed my opinion.

Abstracts, arguably, are the most subjective of any style of art.

It would have been...

For me, the image just doesn't really speak to the challenge particularly well, AND it isn't especially appealing to me artistically, so...

Thank you all for your comments, either here or directly at the image.

The central blob seems to be a major factor. I would have preferred to edit it out but only for the reason that the image would then be more similar to the real image of a black hole.

I still like the image. Could be a very powerful high energy cosmic event or object. Maybe a bit far fetched for the challenge.

Thanks,

Willem
