Naughty boy, that's what I am. In the recent challenge, "A Special Meal", I supposed a meal to be people eating, or a person eating, and not merely a picture of a single concoction. Upon rereading the challenge description, my approach was too narrow, and I mostly dismissed the top five finishers, and others as well. Please, take a few extra tenths. On me. So we're good? By the way, Nikki's (nam) image, "Just the Three of Us", which finished sixth, is still my favorite. An expansive reading, expansiveness in general, is usually for the better.

Actually you weren't totally off the mark IMO. I think a meal is more than one dish, and not dessert either. :-} BTW - I was guilty of not showing a "meal" with my entry either.

"Description
We may not be COOKING one for the holidays this year, due to the pandemic, but we've all had special meals in our lives. Show us one that you remember fondly, or cook one up just for us :-) "

I misunderstood this so badly that I thought that I had nothing, nor could produce anything suitable to enter. So I didn't. But I could have.

Mine didn't go over well -- but it was the exact definition, imo.

Temon and Sanchez -- komodo dragons, get a special thanksgiving meal of a raw turkey each year on Thanksgiving.

It's very special to them, and special to me to be able to photograph it.

Average from participants 4.9

But then again -- I thought I had a for sure winner in another current challenge. I was incredibly excited about the shot, and it's about 1.5 points lower than I hoped/expected.

You never can tell what people are looking for. That's part of the charm/frustration/excitement/irritation with the challenges.

Thank you, Rich. That means a lot to me.

Following Nikki on FB, I know that she is the grandmother of every child's dreams.

But I've gotta say that... dogs eat meals too! :D
