7. I know there is a discrepancy on showing personal data and useful information. At the profile page so far there has been an input box for location. Some users put in their actual state or country, some a made up location. But being from a very different time zone I always found it useful to see when to expect f.e. an answer from somebody. But this is only a very personal thing and I can live without it, no doubt.

Update:

My test entry is in voting now together with 3 more entries
Tried voting a few minutes ago:

gave stars - page switched to next picture without further action (excellent!) - gave stars on second entry - switched to a error report "site not found" - hmmm... there was one more to vote on...
went back to my home, then again to "cast votes"
The one picture I didn't vote on so far immediately popped up, which is good. Then I scrolled back to the picture before which I already rated to see if my stars were still there (they were).
Then I'm not sure if I confirmed my stars or just pressed the forward button for the one remaining picture to open - finally the picture I still had to vote on opened but already with the same amount of stars I gave to the picture before.
I'd love to ty it again in case I made a mistake and therefore to have more pictures and votings to play around...

And today I'm on my office pc:
logged in, Windows 10 Pro, Google Chrome

First of all, although the site looks nice and fresh (thanks for all the hard work), I was a bit disappointed to see the new site is exactly the same as the old one. Just an one-to-one translation. I really think this is a missed chance to make the site more popping to attract new members.

As for bugs:
- as primabarbara mentioned, after casting votes on 2 images I get an empty page saying 'Challenge ID not found' (url: https://a.dpchallenge.com/voting-entries?id= )
- when (still at casting votes) adding a comment and a score (prefer numbers over stars) it goes to the next image. When I click on the back arrow to see if my comment is still there, the arrow doesn't work
- when viewing results the view link for favourites is not working (url: https://a.dpchallenge.com/entry?id=1256622)

Just a first few bugs. Will check further.

Nice surprise:

I got a comment on my test entry and a notification about that via Email (that didn't happen on the old site during the voting period!)
I like that!

edit:
I can comment on my own entry. Is that supposed to be like that???

And I can change - not just add - photographer's comments (without detour via portfolio) and change the file details like shutter speed etc.
No harm if it stays that way imho ;-)

if you do the stars first, it goes straight to the next one without being able to comment

Few fixes were made but nothing dramatic. I think it may be a font issue, as the the color contrast is similar to the legacy site. Please provide concrete examples so it can be addressed.

Looking at the frontpage using an iPad (IOS 14.2) I see only 4 photos for each challenge, and the challenges are sliding left-right-left etc. to show 5th place. It would be great to see all 5, and have them sliding only in case of a tie (6 photos) like on the laptop screen.
Now, all photos are sliding all the time: 1 step for 5 pictures (left-right-left-right etc.) and 2 steps for 6 pictures (left-left-right-right etc.) so it looks quite nervous all photos moving in phase /out of phase...

Some improvement was made, but the overall phenomena is still there. On screens 1200px or wider 5 images are shown at once. On narrower screens the rotation gives all images an opportunity to be seen. One can slide manually on touch screens.

I miss the keyboard shortcuts for voting. On a phone or tablet, voting with the stars works well, but on a laptop or desktop, I prefer the keyboard numbers to mousing around and clicking on stars. Deal breaker? No. Will I get used to it? Yes.

While it will take some getting used to, I do like the new UI/UX. More in keeping with today’s esthetic. And I like keeping the legacy features. Good work!

That said, I agree with others about using a neutral grey as background while voting.

Porting from the legacy site daily helps in the comparison between new and old. However, the port of the underlying database seems incomplete. Under profile - challenge entries and forum contents. No Portfolio appears to have been migrated although it doesn’t indicate “work in progress.” . No cameras or lenses in preferences. I recognize this is probably not a bug, just not “yet.”

I think you should be very thoughtful about automatically resizing challenge submissions if they are too big. You will be making resizing choices that may not preserve image aspects a photographer might care about. That said, it is a nice service, especially for mobile devices sharing photos in the camera role.

The site remake would be a great opportunity to rethink the 1200 pixel and 700 K limits!

That's no longer happening, but now when I vote for the second image, the vote registers but voting doesn't advance to the third image.

The only challenge I could vote on right now only has one entry. Hopefully someone else will vote on Dr Seuss to test it.

Works alright when I'm looking at the three voting results.
BUT: If I want to write a private message to the winner there is no link from the photographers name to their profile (from where I can initiate a pm)

Checked both
on my windows laptop and MS Edge

as well as on my mobile with Android
both times logged in

I can see three entries at Dr. Seuss and unfortunately there is only one in Wildlife.
No problem with voting and commenting - this time I did it logged in on the mobile (Samsung with Android)

I also made an upload for the next test challenge on the mobile, worked really well.
Only nitpicking when looking at the new site on the mobile:
There is a lot of scrolling to be done until you reach f.e. the voting section. But honestly I don't know how to do it better....

And I commented again on my own entry during voting and found a stamp tool (what is that for?) which stamps "null" into the commenting box.
And I could enter emojis! Yeah!

Just commented on the winner of selective desat.
First comment worked out fine.
Then I wanted to make another comment (with emoji): this one doesn't show...
working wheel is rotating endlessly... I'm going to bed now

well this is weird. It still wont let me go past my blue ribbon to see the rest of photos in that challenge after ending. But have no problem with any of the other challenges and looking through them with the arrow.

edited to add. It does let me scroll through challenge on Desat with my Samson phone, but not on my CPY desktop. But on the phone, when I hit the arrow, it does take me to next photo, but then I have to scroll all the way up to the top as it takes me immediately to the end of comments and the dpchallenge writing bit at the end.

Edited again, and now the challenge is over, I can not comment in reply to primabarbara in the comments section.

Ignore everything I have just said. As I was not actually signed into the website and didn't realize it, must have kicked me out a couple of days ago when I cleaned up history.

While not signed-in you should still be able to browse through the images using the arrows (or by sliding if you are on a smartphone). Also, going to the next image should bring you to the top of the page - not to the comment editor section.

As this doesn't happen to me (neither on Windows nor on a Samsung phone) I ask for more details. It may be related to different versions of software. Do you know what version is installed on the phone, and what browser version you have on the desktop?

Anyone else experiencing these issue? Please share either here or PM me.

well it seems I know nothing.
I have a cricket LG phone, it uses google chrome version 11.40.12.23.arm64
and desktop is chrome as well version Google Chrome is up to date
Version 87.0.4280.88 (Official Build) (64-bit)
